  1. it’s a start Gordons book http://www.amrca.com/tech/tuners.pdf and google mcdizzy,, maybe I’d better point you MacDizzy's Two Stroke Technology Exchange - TRX - YFS - YFZ - Glamis Sand Dunes MACDIZZ.COM Two Stroke Engine Technology Database, Large Two Stroke engine building / porting section. Visit the Glamis...
  2. The file guides are only guides for size of chain, that’s it... and no more..it’s up to you if you wish to use the correct size file for the guide. As for the type of chain, the guide don’t care it’s only there to hold the file at the correct height and angle. give Fr Jones a call. Say what you got,,,, and the file guide type you want... but while your waiting for them to open, have a browse of the web page ? Sharpening Equipment > Files & Sharpening Accessories – FR Jones and Son Ltd WWW.FRJONESANDSON.CO.UK
  3. I jumped in wrong, the 72dpx is the std 3\8 and a 5.5 file and not the 3/8 lopro but you can see from the page/screenshot (chainsawbars brochure)
  4. .325 is normally 4.8 mm file and respectively the file guide for that size file and 3\8 lopro / picco. (Ie not std 3\8) is 4mm size file and the correct guide. Edit. Flat file is the same file for the rakers/ depth gauge Can someone correct me or confirm this please.. as I know there is a bit of I know better with some folks like bucking billy... and tho odd little bits at the end of a tooth to help put the hook back on the tooth.?
  5. I'm stating the obvious here,,, you know you need two different (edit: size ) files and guides for those chains..?? just makin sure ?
  6. Somthing is wrong. It maybe that you don’t have a bar and chain but 17-18k if you take a pic of the clutch it may help in Diagnosing in what you may have done wrong or it could just be that you haven’t got a bar & chain on edit. On tick over I’ve used a stick to stop the clutch spinning on a saw with no bar & chain. But being very careful at the time of doing not to get injured ?
  7. as stubby says, you don’t pull clutches off.. just search YouTube or google it.. if you need vid..? here's one, not a very good one, but nevertheless it’s all there. https://youtu.be/JEfyzfxK6_o
  8. those Things on bucking's saws have been custom made. There’s a bit more than just brazing some pipe in some husky’s.,, iirc some need cutting open and gutting..
  9. it's just a name for cutting thin bits of wood when your testing a saw & chain performance and your limited with the wood you got.....
  10. I did measure them today.. and some were a little bit smaller than your min dimensions, not much thou. I put it down to well dried wood ? And the usual sc splitting at the ends.... let me know if they (avs) can’t help.. .. ?
  11. heres The beech, between 1st cut and second cut I leaned it out a 16th
  12. The tv mast gets in the way. oh and I’m not that good at takin pics ?
  13. It’s just poked it’s self up above the hill... I shall tack a pic or 10 ?
  14. I got 4 sweet Chestnut that I milled a few yrs ago. Been in a poly tunnel so well dry. I forgot to take pics today. I will measure tomorrow. i'm in Brighton, maybe this will help you out,

  16. I got an email from farmatec this morn.. sumthing about that c thing and shipping to Europe...not sure if or how long..
  17. Mine were blue ? now there black ? i cut some more beech disco's today.. 20” bar and a log to use the whole bar.
  18. Hopefully it will be just as good tonight... as it should be around till 3/4am Wednesday. but yes I did see it last night and it looked nice
  19. Full wrap is really a big trees thing in other places, but it can be handy imo. (pun-intended ?) it’s also bulky, and you can’t stump off to close to the ground. as for the exhausts chainsaw are another breed. You only have to read the many different ways peeps mod them for power/noise. heres my rebuilt 10mm, inc main bearings & powdercoat https://youtu.be/dxXYey71LhI
  20. I know, ? I frequent there. A lot ?.a lot of good info there.. and they are a helpful bunch of guys,, unlike some other places. That I will not name.. you seen TM'vid.. well it’s on Julian's channel i pop a link up Edit.. you have to remember there is more than one way todo something, and not everyone see's the same way.
  21. Shelf queen saw ???
  22. Yeh I agree.. it’s a bit like buying a box of wheatabix and getting a box of wheatoflakes.. it may be the same thing... and do the same job.. but it’s not what was advertised and not what you brought... oh and if the seller says send it back, tell them to send you a postage label...if you send it back and pay postage. eBay don’t care ask me how o know.. not that I fell foul it it, I read other stories. And when a seller said send it back because of a dispute, I sat tight and asked more than twice that eBay said you will send me a postage label..???
  23. pic's... I like pic's. Saves me a little brain power,, all these answers to questions you haven't asked.. oh I don’t have to ask either ?. that is I see stuff you skippy over... if yours is a 12mm wrist pin,,, then it’s probably a bit better than a 10mm. Apparently with the 10mm, they got the crank broken when the bar got pinched and the operator yanked it out.. that’s why the 10mm got updated to a 12mm (diff crank as well as Wrist pin) edit there were a few other changes ie pin loc on the piston which allowed bigger intake port an more power. That’s why you can’t use a 10mm piston in a 12mm cylinder,, 044 or 440.
  24. I don’t want to go to far into this,, but if your carb has the red things those limiter caps, you know how to defeat them.. I hope.. I fuddy a cylinder because I didn’t know at the time.... if you have that carb with the snorkel, fitting a hd air filter and all the plastic housing is easy.. well more so than my O44 was...
