I dont have a hook (yet :P) but if you have a versatile ascender like a ct rollnlock I think it works great. Fast to clip mid line and very effective to progress capture, if you go one way full to the hook and not changing direction up/down. A hitch would work as fine.

I would not even discuss the harness type nor the certification (or lack of). That's Chinese shit. Not only can kill you but you also not sporting a brand which actually care about product's design and safety. Save a bit more and get a treeup for instance. If you buy that chinese crap I am prety sure you will regret as soon as you start climbing with it.

Thank you jfc. From the srt/full body options i found the treecore the cheapest option and also have adjustable side D rings which could be a bonus for me as a slim guy (29 inch waist)...it tried a sequoia and the D's were too much in front.

Sorry to dig out this thread but I would like to hear about the durability. Also i found the tree core bridge in many web shops but it's just the lower black bridge. How about the upper yellow one? Does it last forever?

Hello I'm looking to get one of these devices for a new rock climbing setup but it would be a great bonus if it could be also useful doing treeclimb. Right now I have a foot ascender for drt/srt soo I was thinking, would any of these or similar devices (kong duck, wildcountry ropeman 2, ct rollnlock) work reliably well in a HAAS configuration? (bungee cord and a footloop) Which one could be more useful in arb work? Thanks in advance.

Yah, fishermans or ?scalfold? (Same knot diferent names) work the best. I like to leave around 5cm of tail, just to be sure, like tommy said.

Chill people, this is a concept - something designers do trying to think ahead and discovering new things. I would love this drone thing for set up the throw line. They are so cheap these days. Maybee someone can try this idea with a "normal" drone pretty soon. Good new is: you can one-hand that umbilical chainsaw.

For main/climb system I kinda like the thicker 9mm or 10mm cord for 13mm 16 stran or even the 9mm for those 11 - 11.5mm semistatick vertical work ropes. For lanyards or whatever secondary could have 8mm which tend to be more of a "hard bite" on/off behavior. (in my experience)

I was almost decided to buy this harness..

I usually use the chainsaw attached to the rope as a weight and because I need it later anyway. But there are some ways to reduce the coil strength. Again, I'm far way of a regular climber, I only used the ascender like 20 days in couple of months. Never dropped the rope so far nor have pulled strands of. I use 16 strand new england, maybee does not help the feed/coil "problem".

This. Fast to tie and works just fine. I used a lot when I had 1 end of the rope not spliced.

I would also look at the blake hitch system beacuse if in a change over or if you somehow damage your prussik cord, you can still use the blake hitch (which require no prussik cord) to get out of the tree... Always usefull to know in my opinion.

After you get one you will never climb without it. It is the first and most basic super boost you can add for ascending.

16 strand rope user here. I tried 10, 9 and 8mm cord. The thicker 10mm or at least the 9mm marlow friction cord works better for me, it feels better in the hand, it don't have drastic "performance" changes when you try different VT's setups (which is good in my opinion) and because its a thicker cord it have more area of contact with the climbing rope which can be good in many ways. Distel is a safe choice and with 10mm cord I can even go 3topwraps and 1 bottom with the distel making it more sporty (im 9.44 stone, 60kg, 132 pounds). I kinda like the Martin/michiokan a bit more than the distel. Both safe bets. If you wana try VT in 13mm line I would go 80-90cm for 9mm cord or 90cm for 10mm cord. The best you can do is get some cheap cord cut to length and tie double fishermans knots. You can try multiple things that way, it's cheap and to be honest there is little to no real advantage on using eye spliced cord in your main hitchclimber climbing system. To take real advantage of the VT you need to try different setups to fine tune and then cut the cord the size which is tight for that setup.

Good morning good people. Last time I climbed couple weeks ago, the rope got "oval". I felt it flat on my hands and a closer look confirm that. Should I be worried? I was 3m from tie in point, using ring.ring saver and a new england 16 strand safety blue. I notice that in some angles and some cases the fritionsaver tend to not "equalize" both rings and the rope bends just like if it was only one ring in the saver. Could this be the cause? What size delta mailon you use 8mm or 10mm? I think it is the simplest safest and easiest top tie solution.
