  1. I'm an armchair fan of the resurge of interest in wood gasifiers. I'd love to run a tiny power station 20-30kw 3ph Can be done quite easily with enough time. [emoji106]
  2. Simple? A wood gasifier with screw fed wood chip is big. Really big, like a shipping container. Then you still need a CHP? And a drying floor???? Simple is a woodburner mate.
  3. Simple? My kind of skill level. Please explain, sounds interesting. [emoji106]
  4. It's a sales opportunity, 20% discount on tree work for members of the emergency services. Hand them a business card, ask about their tree problems. Do they do any woodwork? Got some lovely oak...... [emoji12][emoji106]
  5. That's not wood, That's art. Frame it. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  6. Chinook with vertically mounted 12 foot chipper with side spout. [emoji12] But I run a transit tipper, (Which needs a bigger engine) Need a 4x4 to pull a decent trailer for logs and plant. That's why I said both. And then you start looking at 4x4 tractors, off road 10 ton trucks, massive trailers, skylines, huge hiabs with rotating grapple Saw heads, forwarders,harvesters...... [emoji106]
  7. Absolutely. 100%. I'll personally guarantee it.[emoji6]
  8. Congratulations to you both, [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  9. From logs to coal is 100,000,000 years minimum. Makes 12-18 months seem short for drying wood[emoji848]
  10. Steves the only wood turner I've met who actually pays for wood. [emoji106] Your beech will be milled and stack soon. Got some nice bits and bobs of interesting other stuff too. [emoji12][emoji106]
  11. Yeah I've got a 90hp. You need 125+ Or it's 40mph on hills or less.
  12. That's British forestry. Go look at what the French use for firewood. Makes me cry as a miller. Plantation grown perfect hardwood stems. For firewood.[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  13. That's a great system. Very efficient. How do the bags handle the moisture loss from fresh? The French more often will as BigJ says Buy fresh cut and split tipped on the driveway, stack and store themselves. Also 99% of woodstoves in Brittany will take 50-60cm logs. So it's one cut to cut 1m3 of logs to 50cm if banded or stacked. It's different that's all, works too as there are several large firewood firms who do exactly that. [emoji106]
  14. I am quite a fan of the French system for processing firewood for dry sales: All wood in 1m lengths, Split in 1m lengths into 3"-4" billets. Double plastic band tied. Stacked for 6-8 months, Then cut to order at lengths 20-50cm. [emoji106]
  15. Great stuff silky, [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  16. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji106] This. It's so true. [emoji106]
