  1. Big weight difference between a 500i and 661. A 661 is considerably more powerful than a 660. If you're cutting up to 30" I'd probably go 500i as it will pull a 36" bar. over 30" I'd use a 661 just because it's faster with a 36" bar. [emoji106]
  2. Carcinogenic anti fling and tackifier. It's all bad for humans. One day a manufacturer will produce a chain oil which isn't toxic to humans. One day......
  3. ????? I found vegetable oil useless on bars over 14". Bar heats up and smokes. [emoji51]
  4. I use bio oil, only problem I have with it, is the price ???[emoji106]
  5. I'd be very cautious of an agent who said £50 a ton standing........ Sounds like he knows sweet FA.
  6. There's so many tree surgeons and foresters going tits up. There is no help if you're self employed without rateable premises. I have a very different opinion of government now.
  7. ??? Camera angles ([emoji6]) and 3 hours of moving logs and trailers to get that space clear. Lasted 40 minutes. ??? Got to move all the other crap now to set up the Logosol F2+. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  8. Dude no! It's Elm!!! Mill it into 2" boards. Sleepers and cladding is madness! Elm often sells itself. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  9. Yeah, it's all going on the Logosol F2+ except for the 3 largest sticks (3'dbh). Mostly going for 1,2 and 4" stuff. Got quite a few projects to build. Have to clear some space to set the mill up now. ?[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  10. Truth is... I went to buy a log burner off a timber guy. He had a big stack of straight oak he was going to ring up to firewood. No I said! I'll buy that to mill. So I put a ton in my transit and off I went. Came back on Tuesday to do another run (only 3 runs I thought). He's got 5 ton of yew several more tons of oak, bit of larch and sycamore... Next thing I know, I've got 18 tons of milling logs delivered to my yard. ????[emoji106]
  11. Erm...... Yes all for chainsaw milling!!! ????[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  12. Got a small delivery of oak and yew, with a couple of large sycamore. Should keep me busy for a while. [emoji106]
  13. Seriously Andy, you're expertise is wasted in the oil industry... You should have been a lawyer!!! ???[emoji106]

    GB Bars

You couldn't use it for felling, Totally useless outside of a mill frame. Flexes like paper in the wind. Biggest bar I've used for felling is the 48" stihl. The tree was 8' diameter. [emoji106]
  15. If you want to ruin your bar, chain sprocket etc Water will be fine[emoji13] What size bar are you using? I run bars up to 84". Never needed an aux oiler. [emoji106]
  16. It's bullshit. A political move. 160 people.... Flown in... It's a windup. Carefully designed to enrage the daily mail and sun readers. So they get jobs in the fields to stop the foreigners. Why else would every news outlet cover the story or this????? [emoji848]?[emoji106]
  17. If you are using short bars under 20". You shouldn't have problems. It's when you have a big bar sharpened with the incorrect file size you get problems. But what is the correct file size? As different companies use different sizes... It's a journey... ?[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  18. Have a look fir the " advanced chain sharpening" thread on here [emoji106]
  19. Stihl msa200 14" 261 18" 461 20",25",30" 661 20",25",30",36" 880 30",48",56",84" [emoji106]

  22. My mum was adopted at birth in 42. 60 odd years later... She finally tracks down her mother, who had already passed away. But finds 3 half sisters. They inform my mum that her mother joined the SOE in 42 and worked behind enemy lines until the end of the war. My mum has contacted MI6 to find out more, but got the usual "we can neither confirm nor deny" letter. So yeah my grandma was a spy in ww2.[emoji13] We are now waiting for the Kew archives to open the files..... [emoji106]
  23. Nice little Spalted and flamed beech today. [emoji106]
