  1. It's nearly impossible to compete with big sawmills. I tried a few years back with sweet chestnut. Absolute failure, but I did get to meet a whole load of people who really helped my business. I know a lot of tree surgeons and foresters with big yards, I buy big logs from them for more than firewood prices, mill them up and drop them round various woodworkers/builders and furniture makers. 2. Get a plastic bin/bucket cut the bottom off. Put bin in net, fill bin, remove bin. [emoji106]
  3. Get a bigger chipper with a proper built in feed winch. Have a look at big bandits. Used to use it for zip lining straight to chipper. [emoji106]
  4. I've been bashing the Oregon chain 75EXL for a while now. After initial stretching they are fine. It does keep its edge a bit longer I've found. Not a game changer, but a decent chain from Oregon [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  5. Stunning mate, might have to order a few more for Xmas pressies [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

  7. Woodmizer, logosol and woodlands all make good bandsaws. It's the loading and turning which eats time. 10k for a mill and another 10k for hydraulics [emoji106]
  8. Started on this turkey Oak yesterday [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  9. And it's soooo cheap roadside too [emoji106]
  10. S.chestnut is fantastic wood! I'd rather use it over oak, but there isn't much up here. Really strong durable wood once seasoned, very light compared to other hardwoods. Hardly any sap wood either, Makes great waney edge boards. If the stem wasn't vertical during growth it will probably split though. [emoji106]
  11. In my hand. I was banging a new file into it when the file dropped out as I brought my hand down hard. Won't do that again. Note to self, hold the file! [emoji106]
  12. All the tang. About 50mm Missed everything important, [emoji51]
  13. It's swelling up nicely as I write [emoji51][emoji106]
  14. Quickest I've ever been through A&E. 15 mins to see a nurse who told me " we can wash it for you?" Back to work tomorrow. [emoji106]
  15. Just stuck a file 1.5" in to my hand. I'm writing this from A&E. Got lots of milling over next few weeks, Won't be pushing a saw for a few days. Can anyone help? Huddersfield area. Thanks 07376803384 Saul
