  1. I've had it many times. Signs out, brash stacked across the pavement, cones and people still trying to force there way through the tiniest gap in the pavemement. People are just selfish, dumb f**ks. Once, a guy, who was on his phone, walk right into the tree cutting sign and nearly tripped over. I mean, how bloody blind can a person be who actually can see.
  2. Are the bearings you seeing metal balls or the cylindar type pins? I've been using the HL94s for around 9 years and gone through only one head unit. Last time my HL94 angle head broke, I took the front cover off, the cylinder pins had fallen out, but there were ball bearings also mixed in with the grease. The heads have a Drive Pinion inside which eventually go and the balls fall out. I just bought a whole new head for around £250. I don't see it worth repairing it if you have had 4 years or so out of it. The key is to keep the head packed with grease and shapen the blades regularly. I regrease every 15/20 hours. You will **************** them up if they are being run dry.
  3. If you're going to lube a ZigZag then don't use greasy lubes! Use graphite powder as you would on carabiners. I'm shock by some of the advice people give on here. What on earth are people smoking to think putting WD40 on climbing gear is a good idea?
  4. I wouldn't bother with electric hedge trimmers unless you are doing a regular light trim job. I don't use a Kombi system either. I rather use dedicated tools for the job. I use the HL94 long reach with the angled head for all my hedge trimming work. Wearing ear defenders isn't an issue for me.
  5. I know this is old, but get an ab roller. They are amazing!
  6. Same grease extension nipple snapped on mine. Dogs**t design. I shoved a small flat head screwdriver into the thread and simply unscrewed it.
  7. Taken a look. Perfect. Thanks.
  8. Hi, I want to convert my manual Ifor TT2012 tipper to electric. Is this as straighforward as simply removing the manual pump and attaching the hydraulic cable to the electric pump, mounting it with a 12v battery? Thank you!
  9. Hi guys, I have a possible Beech reduction in Derby, but would rather use a spider lift with an experienced operator if anyone is available for hire in the area? Thank you, Dan.
  10. Lol don't knock the Jo beau M500.
  11. I had an emergency call out this afternoon from a customer. A prime example of what happens when a defect union is left. This mornings strong winds were too much for it. A conifer below saved the house behind from a damaged roof. A huge shame because the tree was beautiful. VID-20240823-WA0008.mp4
  12. Hi, looking for a qualified freelance climber in Derby. £180 a day if you are decent and nice smaller domestic jobs most of the time. My current climber is going to Australia so need a replacement. Work is as and when you are available. http://www.gscape.co.uk DM me if you need to know more. Thanks, Dan.
  13. One of the worst types of customers are the ones that move into a property that has trees and then want to cut the lot down because they are shedding leaves and deadwood, and they have to go out in their spare time cleaning them up. Like wtf!
  14. My man Luke on a maple dismantle. Heavy saw dust in the air.
  15. 100% mate. I don't want to sound like I am moaning. We deserve some warm weather.
  16. I'm in Derby mate and this heat is horrible. It feels more like 30+ degrees. I love hot weather, but as always in the UK, it is super muggy.
  17. The difference is that with the older generation even if we couldn't be arsed we'd still have the decency to turn up and put a shift in and do right by the guy who is paying you. Hate people like this.
  18. VID_20240616165229.mp4 Today I was out in the garden and noticed a lot of my plants with leaf damage, especially specimens with soft/new leaves coming out. Anyone else sustain any damage after the storms yesterday?
  19. Had the Nikon with me along with the 70-200mm lens. Shot my climber Luke in the tree. Cheers.
  20. I pay £100 for the lad I use. Training him up on trimming, using the saw, etc. He is great at cleaning up and works hard so he's worth it! For what he does, he gets paid well and we generally finish early.
  21. Sunday was a lovely sunny day. Me and a few friends went to a pub which is a known spot for people to spend the day in the lovely garden by the River Trent. I said to my mate, why the hell is it so quiet?! This place is always buzzing when it's a lovely sunny day. He replied, people haven't got any money. Everything is so expensive now. I was paying £10 for a double gin and tonic, city centre is probably closer to £13/14! Even going for a coffee and spot of breakfast for two these days is over £30. Then I thought wtf! It probably explains why my work is so quiet. Maybe people are now really holding off and trying to do the work themselves or just holding back until it's absolutely essential for hedge trimming/tree work. Is anyone else in a similar position?
  22. He put his number at the bottom of the article. Feel free to voice your opinions lol
  23. Very, very quiet for me. I thought it was down to the Spring being late and people holding back waiting for things to grow, but still not a lot happening for me. Maybe people are really cutting back this year.
  24. The trick to making money in this industry is working solo/with another lad and doing smaller and nicer jobs of your choice and reap the rewards. Finish early most days and don't get stressed. Big jobs with big equipment is a mugs game.
  25. You just know butts of branches will keep hitting those notches inside the hopper! Very poor design.
