  1. Go for it. Another lovely day for it tomorrow. Get as much done before the guidelines change again!
  2. Been working today and rest of the week. Customers are still happy to go ahead. Ive seen loads of people outside working, scaffolders, window cleaners, brick layers and builders this morning on my travels. ?
  3. Just been past local lanscaping firm and they are open. Owner said hes just limiting the people who come in and practising social distancing. Common sense. Too many people dont have that hence the reason why the tubes are packed like sardines.
  4. Getting loaded up for todays work. Clear blue skies. ?
  5. Exactly. People can still pass by eachother in supermarkets passing it on, and the way its been going i want to see how the panic buying is policed in days to follow. My gf works in a supermarket with no protection at all serving customers, delivery drivers still working?
  6. Print the document and if you get pulled then show if to law officials. I'm reading that the same way.
  7. Our work cannot be done from home!
  8. I'm with you. If the police pull me ill be honest with then. Isnt clear what is essential. Some of this will be hard to police.
  9. My subbie makes his own way to work in a seperate vehicle. We social distance.
  10. I've got jobs booked in and I'm going to work tomorrow. I'm self employed, don't need to mix with anyone apart from my subbie.
  11. Why do most assume that self employed arent declaring? My preferred method of payment is bacs after invoice. It saves hassle and charges for depositing cash at bank and looks better on bank statements when you may need finance or applying for a mortgage. I think you shoot yourself in the foot to not declare your earnings. But this situation is going to be tough on everyone, but anyone who has their tools on finance I really feel for you. Stay strong and just keep working. ??
  12. It is not free money, it's a loan. Any business struggling will struggle even more to take on a loan and have to pay it back. They won't be in a position to pay it back. Businesses are on their arses already. I would imagine businesses would rather close than get into debt to keep staff on and not do anything. This is going to be so much worse than the crash of 2008.
  13. They are indeed. Interpump's and Honda GX engines are built like tanks. I abused my setup, didn't service it for like 8 years and lived outside under a tarp and it went on and on. The engine still works, reckon the valves have cracked in the pump. The GX engines really are so good. Fed up of fueling it up and the noise now.
  14. Nilfisk C135. I bought it a few weeks back after the pump on my HondaGX160 pressure washer has finally stopped working. It was an Interpump, so they are pretty pricey to repair. I decided to go for the electric option because they are quieter. I did my research and read so many bad reviews on Karcher, that I went for the well made and highly rated Nilfisk C135, and I have been impressed on first impressions cleaning the Hilux. Plenty of power and the Nilfisk pumps are ceramic piston, steel valves and reinforced brass pump heads. I have read that the Karcher have much more plastic built into them and many people are having issues with them. If you have the budget, Kranzle are well made also.
  15. Does the government not realise the impact of fossil fueled kilns running 24hrs a day pumping out pollution, then for the logs to be shipped thousands of miles on plane or by sea. It's far better for the environment that people buy locally seasoned wood that has come from trees felled close by. This way the carbon footprint is massively reduced. I do welcome the ban of selling wet wood though. Why anyone would want to burn wet wood is beyond me. This won't really affect most of us here who sell our own air dried wood to the locals. I'm pretty sure that the government know they can't realistically police it. Far easier to police it in places like B&Q, garden centres and petrol stations, but the local tree surgeon carrying a few bags of logs in their truck, there are many excuses that could be used if one was to get pulled by the police. Carry on selling your air dried logs guys! I won't be stopping anytime soon.
  16. I'm going to say M500 - pulls itself up the ramps. Otherwise it's the electric winch. The M500 isn't worth the extra money for an little extra power and self drive.
  17. Just use a torque wrench to tighten them up. Think they are 61kN on the M400, so not overly tight. I use an impact driver to remove them, using a wrench is fiddly as the socket does slip and that's the issue you are having with rounding them off.
  18. You do realise that the bolts need to be torqued to the correct specs in the manual. If not it they will crack to bits.
  19. I'm waiting to see if Jo Beau have plans on mounting the M400 on its own trailer. I really want them to do it. I have the M400, love it, but fed up of loading it on and off the trailer.
  20. Hardly a proper hospital. Prefab lego set.
  21. I've got the JoBeau M400 and leave it on the trailer throughout jobs. Had the M400 for about 4/5 years and we had done some big jobs with it and the portability of it can make chipping on site so much easier. It's been reliable because of the Honda GX630 engine and it packs a punch on power. The issues I've had though are design flaws with the machine itself which I've had to resolve myself. Having said that though I'd buy another because I know how to repair the machine and what to expect. Knives are expensive at £260 a pair, double sided.
  22. How do you visually inspect the core of the rope?
  23. Jack, I wouldn't pay you £1 for those ropes. I value my life more than that. You shouldn't even be selling them. I'd pay the extra and buy brand new.
  24. Dude, £15 a hour. You serious! If me and my groundy go out for a days work I will book £400+ worth of work and that is a gravity fed chipper and pick-up setup, so my overheads are a lot lower. Always try and quote for the job and if you think the job will be tedious or don't really fancy doing it then bloody overprice it. Gardeners who do weeding and mow lawns charge more than £15 an hour and you have all of your expensive kit to pay for. If I was to break it down into an hourly rate then £70/80ph is closer. Even at this price I have learned over the years I am still charging less than what I would like to operate my business and have a decent living wage, but if I charge more then I start losing the work because customers don't want to pay. It really pisses me off!
  25. I took them out myself. The radial nerve is beneath the muscle, so I'm hoping I didn't cause to much damage. I train in gym anyway, so I will add in some wrist and hand exercises daily and update you in weeks to come. Glad you got most of your feeling back. It really isn't a nice sensation to have. Thanks for your help ?
