  1. Awesome cheers! Could select a custom length on-line and pay with paypal, perfect!
  2. First piece cut out. My workshop bandsaw that I bought 18 months ago and never used snapped the band today. need to find a new one. It’s an old machine. Band is 84 1/2” x 1/2” including the teeth. Anyone know where I’d find one? Anyway, jigsawed this out the 3/4” oak.
  3. Im not following? Its like this; https://bit.ly/2s3Ejat
  4. Gonna attempt a Ricking Horse. [emoji33] So pulled some beech and a bit of oak out the stash and passed it over the Bandsaw then my mates planer this evening. Quite happy how it came up.
  5. You may not do it to get work out if it, but you, or anyone else who chooses to do that job could. That’s why it’s a conflict of interest. I’m not being harsh, that’s just the reality of it. I wonder if even you where the cheapest bid the other members dismiss your bid out of hand?
  6. Is that because you cant get your hand in?
  7. So if a Tree Surgeon invests in machinery to make the job faster and more efficient the person needing the work done reaps the benefits and not the Tree Surgeon? Makes sense that.
  8. Id be up in arms too. I'd be furious if the Chairman of the PC was winning contracts for the PC regardless if it was above board or not. If the other members where your mates they could easily swing it for you. The room for dishonesty is far to wide, even if its not happening. In my mind you have had to make a choice of which one you want to be. Chairman or Tree Surgeon.
  9. conflict of interest noun a situation in which the concerns or aims of two different parties are incompatible. "the conflict of interest between elected officials and corporate lobbyists" a situation in which a person is in a position to derive personal benefit from actions or decisions made in their official capacity. "Watson quit his job after questions about a possible conflict of interest"
  10. Surely because that would be a conflict of interest?
  11. Cant see why not? But I'll claim it hurts to much and get the wife to give me a hand, no pun intended.
  12. I cut into mine the other day (part of the same batch as yours) and it had gone rotten. And there was metal in there, double downer. Check yours is not rotten mate. Certainly looks rotten, pics can be deceiving on-line though.
  13. Its something we get for free, but if I was self employed Id make sure I had it in place.
  14. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll be sticking to it this time. Had a Prolape on both side of my L4/L5 had the surgery but never made much difference really. Looking at the latest MRI now its nerves getting pinched in my lower back and also my neck. So I'll get my lower back worked on then maybe get my neck done too. Lucky to have good work insurance really.
  15. I read that three times and Im still non the wiser why Rocking Horses are called Cock-Horses.
  16. Ah bugger! Im getting surgery on my back in a months time. I'll be banned from doing anything for 6 weeks and strictly enforced by my wife. I can only guess how frustrating being out of action for 11 weeks would be.
  17. Do you not have a driving licence?
  18. Had to pay the Farmer £150 for the log, but it is over 1500kg and I guess £100 a ton is not that bad? He'll even move it to a better position in the field for me to Mill.
  19. Yeh, I guess it was for felling it? The guy that dropped was planning on mulling it himself, he just does not have the time.
  20. Was not on the periphery of the field, maybe 10-15m in. Hopefully not to much inclusions. ? I've a few near worn chains, I'll use them

    Elm

Nice bit of Elm I went to look at today. In a field 15 minutes from me. Should be striking a deal with the Farmer tomorrow. Looking forward to Milling it up. About 38" Wide and 94" Long, not massive but really clean and no rot or shake, some nice figuring and maybe a little burr will show up? Should be back to it next week. That Flashlight is 8.25" long. I know this as I used my boaby as a guide. 2 boaby lengths.
  22. I see there is kits on-line but they are little more than knock together kits and that would feel like cheating. I need to build a Coffee Table now anyway, so a Rocking Horse will be on the back burner. I'll be able to put the Router Sled @Johnson made for me to good use.
  23. That gives a surprisingly clean cut. Did you just miss that threaded rod? What make did you go for? I'll be looking to buy one of those in the next year or so. A Mates got a petrol one, but Im not sure he'd be happy lending me it.
  24. Right, cheers. 400 grit to start?
