  1. Half my family rant on about this article 30 pish. They also bring up hundreds and hundreds of years of ancient and irrelevant history like you have just done. The fact of the matter is we've had a referendum. A referendum the SNP had to beg the Tories for. The SNP have been begging for Indi#2 to not just the Tories but any party that has the slightest chance of getting into Number 10. Corbyn all but rubbered her with his wishy-washy 'one day' type reply and Sturgeon stayed on her knees gobbling him in the hope that he honours it. This Article 30 nonsense is just that and nothing more. If there is an Indi#2 there would have to be something put in place for stop another one for atleast a generation. Also, we should have a referendum to re-join the Union as often as we've had one to leave. Fairs fair right?
  2. Did you take those pics with a potato? Half expected a UFO or Bigfoot to pop out the corner.
  3. Im afraid you may be right. Its quite worrying when you put it like that. Id like to say just ignore it but when kids are involved its just not possible. Hopefully its all post election hot air and chest puffing.
  4. The fist one was quite funny. I thought it was more a reflection of the Tories than the English but the other comments make for quite some depressing reading. Im surprised @Mull was not joining in as well. I hope your wife reported them? A few weeks ban might quieten them down a bit, considering they most likely dont have a job they'd have nothing else to do.
  5. Yes, thats true. I made the mistake of just looking at all the yellow blobs on the map. Would an Indi#2 really be so bad? On one hand were Scotland to vote to remain in the Union it would shut the SNP up for literally a generation this time. There is no other trick they could pull out of the hat. On the other hand were Scotland to vote to leave the Union in light of Brexit then that would be what the majority want.
  6. No, I see your point. Maybe for just remaining in the EU? But in the SNP's mind its one and the same. Where we to get Indi#2 it would be pushed by the SNP not only for dependence but to get us back in the EU. Would that sing the vote in leaves favour? I think it would unfortunately.
  7. Yes! "no taxation without representation", I'm, with you on this. Why are the providers denied a voice?
  8. Please explain for a complete novice like me. Are you descended from Scottish stock? If so did these Scottish families consider themselves Unionists? I know some Lowlanders did. Where your ancestors gifted lands in NI? I have zero knowledge of NI but would like to learn more.
  9. Well thats disappointing. Thought it was away to get interesting there.. Its interesting to see how far and few between the SNP have support here. Its almost as if the working man do not identify with them.
  10. Is Duck a typo? Every time I type what I actually mean its Auto-corrected to duck.
  11. Hmmm, true. Never thought if that. Stupidly I just looked at the big blobs of yellow in the map. Very true! Makes sense! If and when the UK leaves the Union? Surely thats a foregone conclusion now? The EU members seem to think so anyway. The SNP wont care though, they'll sell our soul to rejoin. Regardless of the cost. Can you imagine that? What a dream! No taxation without representation! But I do see the down side. They can get it up them!
  12. I love that! My brothers thinking of moving up from London back to Scotland and might build a log cabin on my patch of land. He’s seriously thinking of getting the Bakeheart. Please keep us informed on how you get on with it.
  13. Lovely! Cracking stonework. We hope to emulate that!
  14. Fair enough. Just reading taht in her voice was like drawing my fingernails down a blackboard. My Heckles came right up. We're Scottish, we'll find a way. Its kind of a win/win for me right now. Obviously I cant have everything but right now a Scotland out of the EU but alsoa firm determination for Independence is exhilarating.
  15. You seem stuck in a logic loop of idiocy. No I'm not ragin'. We're getting Brexit done. Scotland is getting dragged out of the EU if it likes it or not. Its just bliss just now. You must also be in a jolly mood knowing that right? Scotland free of the EU? Its all cream from now on.
  16. Been a dream of mine for a long time. The Stove is just an added bonus.
  17. Thanks for the reply. Yes, I understood that the Boiler is designed for DHW only, plus a radiator. If I dont need a radiator I'd not bother as I need enough hotwater to keep a family of 5 going. We live in an old farm house. The kitchen is quite large and we'll be knocking a wall down when we buy it so no worries there. Plus there is next to no insulation. Do you have a link to the wood burning box? For sure I'll be getting one if its a case of extra wood. I was gonna buy new later this month when a wee bonus comes my way but this used one came up for sale and looks mint.
  18. I currently have a Rayburn doing the DHT, heating and cooking. Its fine when working but we always seem to have the Engineer out. Thankfully the Landlady pays. But we're buying the place and I'll not be forking out for the constant work it needs, even the Engineer said to dump it. He's a Master Rayburn guy, one of the few for Scotland and travels all over. I like the idea of a Stove in the living room running the radiators and the Esse in the kitchen running the hot water, but it seems that might not be the best solution. We have 14 radiators in the house, we'd have to have a massive stove to run everything off of that so if we have 'assist' it with the Esse and reduce the size needed in the livingroom all the better. Not sure how logical that is though?
  19. Hmmm, mixed reviews heading towards the negative. I had already done my homework on it and knew most of these issues. Not really a show stopper for me but interesting to see it will not really provide the hotwater for a family is a little annoying, will have to tie it into the Stove in the Living Room when I get around to buying one for there too. Thankfully my brother-in-law is a heating engineer. We like watching River Cottage and this wee clip kinda sold it for my wife.
  20. I think it needs to be a gravity circuit so your radiator will need to be up strairs in case of power cuts. (no central heating pump) You should be able to hook it up to a Dunsley Neutralizer to work in conjunction with another heating source. Ah yes, good point! We're two more Bathrooms up there so no issues.
  21. Until these 16 years olds have half their pocket money/allowance taken off of them and given to someone else then yes, compared to them I am a tax and political expert. Until they've been shafted with the full length and girth of the SNP they are living in foreplay bliss.
  22. Nope, I'm less bothered than I thought I would be actually. With such a clear mandate from the Scottish people it means we seem to have a single voice. One of the biggest issues with Brexit was how fractured the population was/is atleast that was how the MP's tried to play it. In reality I think the Remoaner MP's just messed it up for the whole of the UK. Now we have such a huge majority in the Tory Party and all the Traitors have been kicked out we'll get Brexit done. Now that Scotland seem to be almost entirely SNP and the Tories hanging on in where people actually generate the money in Scotland. There seems to be a strong indication of a single will. Thats to either get an Independence vote, remain/re-join the EU or both. As with Brexit I fully support the will of the majority, even if it goes against my own personal wishes. I really cannot see how a whole country can now be held to ransom? Indi#1 was meant to be a once in a generation vote. But with Brexit I guess we have to reconsider. At least Indi#2 would either put Independence to bed for a long time or the people in Scotland genuinely want Independence this time and why should that not be honoured? Who should vote in a Scottish Indi referendum? 1, My personal opinion (and this will piss a few off ) should be those born in Scotland. 2, But in reality it should at the very least be British Passport Holders. 3, Absolutely no EU members! The issue with having EU members vote is a two edged sword for the SNP. On one hand the EU citizens will of course vote to remain in the EU, but will they vote for an Independent Scotland away from the UK? Im not so sure? Having other British Passport Holders who either live or keep a holiday home in Scotland will also dilute the leave vote as of course the majority do not wish to see an independent Scotland.
  23. I'll see if I can find it. Generally they seem to get very good reviews but I thought Id ask on here as I thought Id get a more experienced feedback. Hopefully its not as bad as shite though. ? Its more for the aesthetics anyway. I like the look of them, they are heavy at 350kg and will suit the style of our Farmhouse Kitchen which has/had a large fireplace before its was filled in and a Rayburn was put on front. If I can get the fireplace Opened and expose the red sandstone I think it would look nice.
  24. Nice! I'll have a look at that later today. Im still not sure what will be my primary heating. Large outside Wood Stove with Buffer Tanks or a Wood Stove in the Living room running the radiators and the Esse in the Kitchen running the hotwater.
