  1. Its hardly a massive slab your wanting either. £180 does sound excessive. I really have no idea about prices though. Ive got a couple of Oaks Butts to Mill soon and Im sure I have something suitable already drying. But Im closer to Aberdeen than I am to Edinburgh and I assume Edinburgh is considered far north for you. Ah, I see you're getting two of those dimensions for £180, not just one.
  2. I’ve no done a stroke since the first of October. ? I’ll no do a day again till December at the earliest. Not tetchy in the slightest, Eggy has a Hard-on for me and it’s quite funny. Re-read the thread if you wish. I made comments related to the thread and Eggy gets all personal and starts throwing unwarranted insults around. But still, it’s all fun and games especially when he gets caught out so Bonny. [emoji23]
  3. Richard actually found it and posted it last night. I just thought I’d add it again today it’s so damn funny. ? Eggs really is the gift that keeps on giving.
  4. And you have a severe case of memory loss. Just to remind you. Its comedy gold, it really is.
  5. Explain Richards link to what you posted before then? Anyway, yes, lets get this back on track. The Caravan comment was a throw away coment that was directly linked to what you have been proven to have written within the last 2 years. Im sorry if it got you so Butt Hurt, clearly I hit a nerve. So where where we? Ah yes, we where in the middle of you tying me up in knots, so lets resume shall we? 1, How do in work benefits make the low paid equal to highly skilled people or doctors? Its an equalizing. Work Benefits is one of those benefits but I also added other benefits which you have not included in this point. These include Child Benefit, reduced Council Tax if you or your partner is a Student, School Dinners, School Music Lessons and last but not least taxing someone 40% and the other person either nothing or virtually nothing. When they are all considered together there is equalizing, intentionally I believe. The Green Eyes Monster is a huge issue in Scotland where so many here have a chip on their shoulders. But I dont doubt you struggle to see this, I believe its been designed in such a way that the Lay Person cant, or wont join the dots. 2, Who would do the menial jobs if everyone was highly educated? Ive covered who would do the menial Jobs, but I'll do so yet again just for you. Repetition for emphasis as it where. As there is a higher percentage of people in the UK on benefits than there is people paying tax then there is a huge scope to get at least a sizable percentage of these people to do the menial jobs. They clearly dont have the drive to do anything else. Where benefits reduced to the point where people on them where on the bread line and had a roof over their heads, and nothing more there would be a huge incentive for them to get their arses off the sofa and earn a wage, a wage that is currently equal to what they see in benefits I believe many would do. Many would also be happy to still sit on their arses and live off of bread and water. But then thats OK as it would be costing the tax payer a fraction of what they cost now. It might even spark a drive into them to better themselves. The Benefit system in the UK is broken, it was not designed to be a lifestyle choice. 3, How are people that work full time in distribution hubs as Pickers & Packers lazy and feckless? Please direct me to where I have said such a thing.
  6. Ah, you're going down the denial route I see. I must admit, I did not see that line of reasoning coming.
  7. No, I dont agree with this at all. A Bin Man can basically walk into a job and be qualified for it. A Doctor has to be diligent from high school. My Daughters are going down this road, or at least trying to and its extremely difficult to just get a place in a University of Medicine, not only does she need to get Straight A's in 4th year she needs A, A, B in 5th year and the same again in 6th year. To achieve that she has to revise almost constantly and have extra tuition(paid for because we dont meet the poor people criteria) But even that would not be enough, she would have to show her interests are in Medicine and show the Uni that she had done volunteering at a Hospital, or Hospice etc etc. On top of that she'll need a Gold in the Duke of Edinburgh. This is all before she starts her 7 years training to be a Doctor. Which will be exhausting and financially draining. If then she manages to survive all that stress and she qualifies as a Doctor she will have the responsibility of peoples lives directly on her hands. Yet you think a days work for a Bin Man and a Doctor should be the same? Im sure maybe now why I cant agree with that? I also dont think its solely about intelligence, I dont think I have actually said it was? But drive, determination to succeed and will power. If you dont have these traits and are happy doing a menial job that anyone could replace you with a weeks training then the pool from which that person could be replaced is huge. The supply and demand here dictates the wages. On the other hand where Doctors, Lawers, CEO's all to be paid the same as someone working on the Tills in Tescos then you'd have no CEO's, Lawers and Doctors because whats the point in dedicating your life to something to only be rewarded the same as someone without the drive, dedication, will power and the debt attached to such a position? Rough, you charge what you feel you can for the job you do. Where the customer happy to pay you an extra £300 a day would you refuse it? Would you say no, thats now what someone in Tesco gets so Im not going to take anything above what they earn? Or would you rather think that the skills you've developed over time should be reflected in what you earn?
  8. Eggy Eggy Eggy, do keep up. Anyway, looks like you've been caught bonny and no mistake. I knew I seen you posting about living in a Caravan. So which is it? Flipping Country Manors or dossing on a building site? If I mind right you where turfed off no long after too. Next you'll spin this as getting me all knotted up again or some other nonsense.
  9. What? My house is worth more than your house is not swinging dicks? You’re clearly getting to emotionally invested now Eggy. Next you’ll be telling us what you earned this week traveling 1000 miles to fix pumps....
  10. Yeh, that’s what I remember as well.
  11. Woop woop! Now we’re really swinging dicks!
  12. Moving up in the world are we? The pump business must be booming. And no, I don’t think all people left of centre are morons. That accolade is shared equally by the left and the right. There are a few notable lefties here whom I consider intelligent, you’re just not one of them.
  13. Don’t flatter yourself Eggy. You’re not as nearly as intelligent as you think you are.
  14. Every company forced to pay a higher wage would put prices up. More money in people’s pockets alone would see this happen.
  15. There will always be the lazy and the feckless. Always. There will always be those that don’t want or can’t handle high profile jobs. There is mother’s, or fathers that don’t want to work full time and are happy with a job in Tesco’s. The reality is not everyone is interested, intelligent enough or driven enough to earn a position that pays the wages they command. When there is over 50% of the population on benefits there is plenty of scope to cut their benefits till working for a roof over their heads and food their and their kids bellies. No one should live life long expecting others to fund them. Putting menial jobs wages up simply does not work. 1. It’s simply not deserved. 2. Corps won’t make less profit, they just put their prices up and going from £8 to £12 an hour is cancelled out. So what will Labour do then? Oh I know! They’ll say higher earners need to pay their fair share, they are a broken record. Did the last Labour government do as you suggest? No, they where to busy starting illegal wars and bumping off Doctors. What Corbin proposes is sheer lunacy that their members are leaving in droves and telling people to vote Tory. Bottom line is life’s not fair.
  16. A system that takes 40% of a slightly above average wage to top those up on minimum wage who pay no tax is socialism. It might not be an exact equilibrium but when you add all the other benefits together it’s not hugely off the mark. I do not wish to fund those that could not be arsed getting an education, be it at Uni, College or an apprenticeship. Thankfully I don’t as I pay my tax in Norway. ?
  17. What other options to non-trade guys like us have though?
  18. You’re no joking! Brings a tear to my eye. A lad I know just liberated a near new £4000+ massage chair from the skip. Put it in the container with the approval of the rig. Changed a fuse somewhere and it was good as new. ?
  19. We don’t donate or are allowed to give anything away. Insurance reasons. So in the skip they go. It would be far easier just sending the scouts money and they could buy their own knives.
  20. Because its Norway? The cost of a Rig over a Well Template can cost upwards of £500,000 a day. The last rig I was on it was £800,000. Divide 800,00/24 thats £33,000 odd an hour. It simply is not feasible to spend time sharpening a £30 knife in that time. We must use 40-60 a trip stripping off plastic encapsulation from Hydraulic and Electrical Control Lines. Unless you're doing a good job of resharpening the Blade the small scores or knicks will longitudinally score the Control Lines. This will create weak spots in Contol lines that see 10,000psi. Get a Leak and the Well is kinda buggered. Hire an extra man to sharpen the knives on the crew? Thats an extra £4000 a day for that guy to be there. We'll maybe burn through £1000 worth of knives (I doubt we pay the full £30) Its just simple economics. We now have easy strip, with kevlar threads inserted so as to save on the use of knives, not for cost saving but safety. It cost maybe another £5000 for the Kevlar, but we hate it so use the knives anyway.
  21. As I mentioned in the other thread my take on it is its forced socialism. In Socialism everyone (kinda) gets paid the same regardless what job you do. Or is that Communism? Same shit really. So if you're a Street Cleaner, or a Skilled worker or a doctor you get paid the same regardless what job you do. Now in the UK a Street Cleaner is on minimum wage, a Skilled Worker is on £45k a year and a Doctor is on £60-100k a year. But the Skilled worker and Doctors are repeatedly told to pay their fair share of tax. Which goes up and up every year. These skilled people on a higher, and justified wages are always the whipping boy each and every election, especially in Scotland where where's told to pay a fair share and a small increase each and every time. The Green Eyed voters think 'yeh, its not fair those bastards earn so much! '' So the skilled workers are taxed higher and higher. But those on minimum wage or under whatever the threshold is these days and get Tax Credit, Child Benefit, free School meals, free school music lessons etc etc. Everything the man paying over 40% tax is not entitled to. So in the end there is an equalizing. The minimum and lower wage guys end up syphoniong off the tax of the Skilled Workers. Its Socialism with more steps. Thankfully in Norway socialism is nothing like whats been fostered here in the UK and to a greater extent in Scotland. In Norway you pay into your own State Pension. Its capped, but at £10,000 a year (there abouts). Thats your own Pension pot, the more you earn is rewarded. (You have to earn about £100,000 a year to pay in £10,000 a year) Of course everyone gets a State Pension, but its the bare minimum if you pay in the bare minimum. Everyone gets Child Benefit regardless what you earn. So I get £100 a month for each kid. You wanna see a Doctor? Thats £30, each time. (capped somewhere down the line if your constantly there) Same with A&E, its £30, dont pay it seemed like you'd not get seen. Prescriptions are also £30 a pop. The list goes on and on. What we have in Scotland and in the UK seems more and more like a dytopian hell hole version of Socialism, but then Socialism never works anyway, theres only so long you can steal other peoples money and give it to the thankful and ungrateful.
  22. I have a few of these in the drawer if you're interested? I use a couple of boxes of these each trip off-shore. They have been lightly used, they just end up in the bin otherwise. Classic Wood Splitting Knife – Morakniv MORAKNIV.SE
  23. How much are you for a Belt Sander like yours?
  24. Cutting a lot better now. Only done the one log so far though. Still need to dial it in tomorrow though. Ran out of time today.
