  1. Dont forget the bingo on a Saturday night.
  2. Yeh it was a long day. But was also fun, been a few years since I made my last one so was a bit of a puzzle as to how I used to do it. Ive got the other lads hooked and they've made some nice pieces for their better halves. I had to pay for the silver on this rig (booo!) but normally its free in the Hobby Clubs. There is a Knife Club too where people can buy, or make a blade and there is blanks of different kinds of wood for making the handle and leather etc for the sheath. Here's some I made before.
  3. As little as possible, ? We where all finished up late Friday night. No chopper till Monday night so just dossing around really. Swinging over from nights to days so needed something to keep me amused.
  4. In the Barrel there is small stainless steel needles, pins, diamond shapes etc. Some solution is also poured in, not sure what it is as its in Norwegian.
  5. Who is this 'we we' you're talking about? You've literally just jointed up and have a grand total of 7 posts to your name. So I have no interest in the slightest in getting into a debate with you, especially with comments as retarded as your opening one to me. If others fancy replying to you then great, but till then piss off as I'll not be indulging you any further.
  6. The wire is 1.2mm sterling silver. Started at 08:00 this morning and after a long lunch I had them both finished and in the tumbler. After an hour in the tumbler the chain takes on an amazing shine and all the rough edges are smoothed off. Will leave in over night and see how they come out.
  7. Ok, so not woodworking but I’m limited to what I can do with wood off-shore. ? Had a day to kill today. So thought I’d make a Viking necklace and bracelet for someone. Not sure who yet. [emoji16] Some pics of the process.
  8. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/735362403634727/?ref=messenger_banner Needs work but might be an easy fix? 26kv should run most things Id assume?
  9. Very nice! If I get some 1m Oak in again I think I'll take Big J's advice and split it in half with the Alaskan. Sounds like that would take slightly less time and less work as well. Might even take a couple of full sized boards outta the middle that would naturally be quarter sawn then cargo strap the remaining halves together, rotate 90 degrees and run the Alaskan through them again. Any pics of the finished product?
  10. Very nice. What diameter log was that? How long did it take to split in half with the Chainsaw? ? Did you quarter it with the chainsaw too?
  11. Yes, I expect he could. Would want to keep the cost down as I just need it for hobby use. Thats why I was keen to go for the generic 750kg one. His website does seem to indicate the large 750kg log arch will skid a bigger log, Im not sure if that just means longer in length or heavier? By the time I add better tyres, a swivel hitch, delivery and avt I'll be over a grand. ? ''The large arch is rated at 750kg and will fully suspend a 10 foot 28" log. You can move larger logs than this by lifting the butt end and skidding the tip. Using this method you can move some really huge bits of timber with ease.''
  12. Ooooh! I do love that Log Arch as well! Im thinking of getting one of them before I get the Log Trailer as I think I'll use this more. I see their large Log Arch is does up to 750kg, but as I'll be moving Oak Logs of around 1 ton I guess I should email him and ask if he can build me one to this spec? Did you mount the 12v Winch yourself? Looking forward to the Milling updates. Thats something I have a lot of interest in.
  13. Yeh just on ebay. I tend to look for second hand sellers, I guess they arrive in store and the best of the bunch end up on eBay?
  14. Completely disagree. This is exactly the place where build quality issues with a manufacturer are addressed.
  15. Call me a tight bastard but I really like Fjallraven G-1000 trousers and buy good used ones for about £30 each. Just bought another 3 pairs and they seem almost brand new, feel bad for using them for work to be honest. But really well made can be waterproofed with their wax etc.
  16. Nice! I hope you post a build thread? I need to build a barn/log store sooner or later as well.
  17. Very nice! Whats the plan for the timber?
  18. Oh I dont know, a little pegging could really spice things up .
  19. Yes, Norway has generated a vast Oil Fund, but that's for future generations so they also benefit from the Oil bonanza and not just this generation. The Scottish Oil Reserves have been squandered by Westminster and was used to prop up the UK's Credit Rating in the 70's and 80's. The Oil industry really did lift Norway out the the poverty it was in until the early 70's. Before it was fishing and potato farming. Much akin to Scotland their national dishes are often seen as disgusting and well preserved food stuff. Norwegians still have a very basic diet. So although the Oil revenues generated is not used today the people who work in the industry generate a not inconsiderable amount of tax. But there is only about 170,000 people in Norway that is directly or indirectly employed in the Oil Industry, thats about 6% of the population. In my opinion Norway is considered wealthy because the people live quite frugal lives. Both partners, as I previously mentioned, have to work full time and everyone pays considerably more tax than we do in the UK. They eat very basic food, they seem to rarely travel further than Spain for a Holiday, more often than not they go to Denmark or vacate in Norway. They drive old and shitty cars, or quite often a Van as its cheaper to buy (green plate) than a car with more than 2 seats. But the flip side is a good health service and a good pension and a good infrastructure. In Norway its a common joke that if you go to the Doctors about anything, and I mean anything they tell you to take some Paracetamol and go for a walk. They seem to ban almost all drugs that are readily available in the UK's pharmacies and heavily encourage walking it off. Maybe thats not a bad thing? But I have to smuggle over boxes and boxes of solpadeine over each time I come to work for all the lads with sore backs as its almost impossible to get from the Docs. Then there is National Service in Norway. But I think its a great thing, the youth seem to be much more respectful compared to the UK. It seems to instill a sense of responsibility in them that we just dont see here. But can you imagine if we tried to start that here in Scotland?
  20. Now this is funny. Also sad, but funny.
