  1. £120-£200 a ton Id say.
  2. I can mill 5.7m on my Bandsaw but I if Im re-sawing already squared off beams then its easy to slide the beam down the bunks and finish the cut. 7.4m would not be an issue. I did this recently for a customer as he needed 20 beams like this done. You're way to far away for me to do something like this but Id be wanting £300 if you where closer.
  3. Depends on the profitability of the work though. If you can make £150 an hour with your own work and someone wants something re-sawn they dont normally want to spend more than £50 an hour. Even then they scoff. Plus the hassle of stopping what you're already doing or planning to do is not always that straightforward. Is there metal in the junk they're bringing in? They're not gonna want to spring for a new band plus your down time. You spend more timer dealing with messers and dont make a penny out of them.
  4. That colour will not last more than a few weeks, a couple months at best. Then it will just turn grey.
  5. Id not bother even it if was dumped in my yard and Dave milled it for me.
  6. Firewood it.
  7. Some of the Bandsaw milling I do comes from Customers wanting their blown tree's repurposed.
  8. Thinking about it more and looking more into Earthballs I’m not so sure now. year round they are never bigger than in the pictures and generally Hazelnut/Cob sized. They certainly are not potato sized. The dogs eat as much of them as they can dig out. They never go near actual Earthballs when they do grow above ground.
  9. This seems to be what they are! The Dogs love them and have saught them out for the last 8 years and seem to be fine.
  10. It’s a hard crunchy shell. They seem to be like this year round and always this size. Never see them above ground and don’t see regular puff balls above ground either. Lots of ther mushrooms though including a good crop of Chanterelles. They’re always 1-3” deep and growing within a fine mat of roots.
  11. I’ve three Samoyeds and they all love to snuffle out these things. They’re about 1-3” below ground level and in the local woodland. They seem to zero in on them and once they’ve dug it out they’ll eat it then move onto the next one. They must dig up 10-15 each on a walk. There is no real smell to them and the insides are a very fine dark brown powder.
  12. Awesome! I hope the prices come crashing down so I can pick up a bargain.
  13. Valentines day was two days ago Les.

The only issue with that attitude is as you exit your prime he'll be entering his and what goes around comes around.
  15. Ive got 1m wide Ash slabs that where milled at 5"-6" thick over 20 years ago and Ive re-sawn them to 2.5" and they've held up well.
  16. Sent you a PM
  17. Yes
  18. The car was idling all day just to dry out gloves I had on rotation. Was fine once you got going but stopping for lunch and getting going again was a killer.
  19. Just finished 4 days milling for a customer out in Banchory. Had two helpers the first two days then one helper the second two days. Plus the loaders. Milled an extensive cutting list out of DF & Larch. 95 x 3.6m x 8” x 2” 95 x 3.6m x 6”x2” 60 x 3.6m 4” x 2” 20 x 6” x 6” 65 x 5” x 3” He thought I’d get it all done in a day. 🤣 Was down to -4 a couple of the days with heavy snow coming through.
  20. He said to ask him. 🤷🏻‍♂️😁
  21. How do you know?
  22. Now that is a clever idea! I get to use the branch logger to bag mine up. 10 x 1m3 bags in just over an hour. Folk pay good money for them too. Not done any this year though. Need to get a firewood side Hussle set up.
  23. A nice wee afternoons earner that. Plus a bunch of scabs for the stove.
  24. Depends on how desperate you are for the sale. I charge high and miss out on some sales but Id sooner do that than sell cheap. Id charge a premium for 4.8m over the 3.6m. Personally Id want £100 for the 4.8 and £70 for the 3.6m.
