  1. No vehicle to get to work and pop to the shops? Missus not on the books? Dont get me wrong, Im not against being self employed, my Bro is and Ive very proud of how well he's done. Lets just say Im playing devils advocate here, we Im having the same discussions with him. He's just been made Project Manager at a Hospital in London to help deal with this Rona Crisis. Gonna be a busy boy. Construction side of things.
  2. A sizable percentage of SE use creative accounting to pay as little tax as they can, as voiced by some here. Im sure the government will happily return the favour.
  3. Absolutely. I hope the government does the right thing by all the SE folk. What that is I dont know? A bridging loan maybe? And a fixed sum to cover living expenses?
  4. I can only go by the folk Im aware of. But even doing it by the books you can write off so much, pay way less in NI etc. Its the perks of being self employed right? But with the perks comes the down side I guess?
  5. And I see enough Chocolates.... Maybe drop a reminder into your mate EddieC? Since he thought it would be a good idea to re-introduce politics into the discussion?
  6. We've been asked to not politicise this, so lets respect that shall we?
  7. Thats what she said! Or not, since he's been cleared.
  8. Dont know, was during the day and I was not down by the pubs. I'll ask my mates, see what they say is going on there. Not a chance. Big groups, zero space. I had to turn down a request to help two lads push start their motorbike as Im not allowed any contact, they where not best pleased. Park bench two guys just sat down right next to each other. I doubt they where from the same household as they where about the same age. Thats right now. Kiwi was packed out, folk walking around aimlessly. Rema 1000 was the same. Mekonomen in Tananger open, might go buy some tools the morn for the craic. Buses running, cars silently wizzing around like no ones business as everyone seems to have an elbil here. The Doc the other night asking me and a colleague to pass the mobile phone between us. Im getting food delivered to my room, by the chef who physically hands me the tray, then hands me bottles of coke off the trolley. But yes, the shops where well stocked. People are friendly and there is no panic, hence why its like a parallel universe here, its like nothing is happening.
  9. Ive had two long walks around Stavanger since I arrived om Friday. Its like a parallel universe here. Its as if The Rona's not even a thing here.
  10. Or, and here's a novel idea! Pay the Tree Surgeons who might be finding things tighter than usual for the logs?
  11. Bbbbbbbut its the Torys fault.
  12. Labour are all for open boarders with hoards of people from all over the world swarming over and making use of our NHS. There's now around 37 genders all demanding to be catered for by the NHS and reassigned to whatever whim takes their fancy as we have to pick up the tab. Then back again when they realise that fad is over. NHS Tourists coming over and making use of our NHS unabaited. On top of that Labour wants more and more and more handed out for free to those who contribute nothing to our society, either cultural or financially. Something has to give when the above pressures is placed on our infrastructure, housing, and social care. Cutbacks have to be made unfortunately. Yet the empty drum sounds the loudest so those members of our society that make the most noise unfortunately seem to be catered for the most. There is simply not the money going around to make your version of utopia a reality.
  13. Socialist principles, that will be required to be paid back. As a stop-gap to returning to the real world.... Only a socialist ever thinks these things come for free, or from the government.
  14. I knew it was a bloody mistake posting that one! No, Im the taller gormless looking twat second to the right.
  15. Just knew this would happen. Its a bloody disgrace.
  16. Manufactured around the world, from Scotland to Singapore. Shipped to the US and assembled into Tools. Shipped to each country that orders them and then build into Assemblies. Loaded in 20m baskets and shipped off-shore on supply ships and lifted onto the rig with a crane. Special ordered are shipped in from the US in cargo planes.
  17. I dont blame them. Generally folk who own camper vans are getting into the age group who will most likely be mist affected by the Rona. 'your' wee shop could of course refuse to sell to them. Maybe have a word with them about that.
  18. Get your degree or an apprenticeship in something genuinely useful, like a Plumber, Sparkie, Mechanic or an Engineer. Get that under your belt as its something useful to fall back on. Play with trees on the weekend. If you still like playing with trees and really dont have any intention of earning a living that much above minimum wage then crack on, but at least you'll have a trade or qualification to fall back on. Dont let your heart rule your head, one day you'll want a mortgage and a family. Thats my take on it anyway.
  19. I run 'intelligent' tools (ironic I know )into newly completed wells to optimise production or injection. The first pic is plumbing/terminating the hydraulics and electrical control lines on the Drill Floor. Second pic is us building, testing and calibrating some of the tools on one job in the workshop. Third pic is when it all goes Pete Tong. someone pushed the Spooler Units directional handle in the wrong direction in a storm and buggered up 3 kilometers of Control Line. took 24 hours to sort. Lastly a few of us on a Job. Note the stunning Norgie Lass on the left. https://www.halliburton.com/en-US/ps/well-dynamics/well-completions/intelligent-completions/default.html
  20. A loader makes a world of difference. As Im hoping my Log Deck will. Ive now got 9 fair sized Spruce up on the Deck and a bridge over to the Mill, so I can hand roll the Logs over. As the ground is slight sloping the back of the Log Deck is sunk into the ground, so Ive another 15 tons of Logs ready to roll up the very short incline at the rear. But as I'll be mostly cutting 8x8", 8x10", 6x6" and 6x4" in the near future I also need something to get the finished beams off the Mill. I was thinking of a roller deck or something? There is a set of rusting rollers up on the farm. I might see if I can have them and fab up something the same height as the Mills Bunks. So I can slide, or winch the beams off the mill down onto the rolelr deck and stack the beams till I get the Avant back in for a weekends shuffle around.
  21. Gotta self quarantine before Im allowed to work here in Norway. Have to have a letter of invitation to get into the country now as only nationally are allowed. Quite a few UK folk where turned around at the check-in desk as they never had a LOI. So just a waiting game before I can start to do any work.
  22. This wins the internet for today!
  23. Thought you had me on ignore too? I must try harder.
  24. Marathon Platform? No been there in over 12 years.
