  1. Ive messaged you through FB as requested
  2. Interesting that shavings is worth that much. I think Ill be creating a bit of shavings with my new Log Home Log Moulder and Im looking to sell the shavings, I already have a Horsely Girl looking to buy but Im not sure what the going rate is
  3. Well thats a shame. Maybe he should apply?
  4. I like that Flight Attendant, so funny. I bet his briefings are first class.
  5. Norway very rarely burns softwood from my experience. To them Birch is king and they import huge quantities from Eastern Europe. Like most I like a mix of hard and softwood. But I’ve been burning a lot of Larch this last year and it’s been great on it’s own.
  6. Well, its a moot point until these countries have a referendum on it. Keep in mind the main reason the Tories allowed the UK a referendum vote was they where so sure the UK would vote remain. None of the Polls had the UK down for leaving. All our views on this subject are empirical. As J pointed out we all move in very different circles, the very much international one I work in is clearly different than the one you move in in France. From my POV your reasoning the net contributors would not vote to leave is reality only in your head.
  7. Of all the Countries to get a referendum to leave the EU so far 100% have left.
  8. I do get that, hence my caveat. They did wanna leave Germany though, one reason is cited as lock down. Surely no one will upsticks and move purely based on that. So I do wonder what the other real reason is?
  9. People desperate to escape the draconian and pointless laws implemented to save Grannie. Same in Stavanger, packed full of Germans and French when I was in town I genuinely believe that if the people where given a referendum in each EU country the net contributors would all vote to leave and perhaps a few beneficiaries as well. The people (in my opinion) have become disillusioned with the EU dream and the reality of forced immigration has been devastating. People cant speak out though for fear of being labeled a racist.
  10. I do agree its odd, but now you can rest assured its not a UK incompetence. Perhaps even the EU is pissed as Sweden for not towing the party line and is punishing them?
  11. Seems like even the EU thinks Sweden should be Orange/Amber Big J.
  12. Hmmmm, we’re not talking apples for apples here. It’s my opinion that Scotland was robbed of its chance to have progressed into a country like Norway. You can’t compare a country with 5 million people verses a country with over 60,000 and wonder where all the money has gone. Had Scotland has the chance to keep its oil like Norway has perhaps we’d see a vastly different country. Perhaps not. Norway, as you say is very good at managing their own affairs. Perhaps it’s why they repeatedly refuse to join the EU? And although my findings are purely empirical where the Norwegian people to be given a vote to fully withdraw from the EU they would take it. As would Sweden. I really don’t agree that the U.K. is bad at managing its own affairs. Time will tell how we do outside of the EU but im quite confident we’ll come out stronger than ever. Count yourself lucky you’re moving to the remote parts of Sweden. The horror stories I get from my Swedish and Finnish coworkers is a real eye opener. Very few are happy being trapped in the EU. Perhaps when the U.K. shows that it can prosper out with the EU other net contributors will follow suit. I genuinely hope to see the destruction of the EU within my lifetime.
  13. I wish Pritti Patel would carry out what she repeatedly threatens to. Where she to have done that many would have regarded her as a strong woman of an immigrant background upholding British values and an advocate for legal but limited immigration. But it’s all talk and bluster. It’s quite a shame. You really do suffer more than most with the Rose Tinted Glasses when it comes to the EU. To the point I question if you’re not just playing the long con/troll. No one can be that blinkered surely?
  14. Not signing up to the EU vaccine passport is the very reason people as young as 16 are getting their first if not second dose here in the UK and places like Norway have about 50% of their adult population with only one dose. But my point was the scaremongering of the AZ vaccine by the EU was purely political, and potentially greed orientated. Norway is giving away all their AZ vaccines due to this unfounded smear campaign and the populations reluctance to take what has proven to be a no less safe vaccine than the others that cause blood clots. The EU where quick to call the variant that did not originate in the U.K. the Kent variant and made every effort to use this name and implement restrictions to the Channel Tunnel well before the Vaccine Passport was in place or indeed vaccines where being issued, again in what to many was seen as nothing more than a political play/punishment for leaving the EU. If nothing else Covid has exposed the EU leaders for what many have long believed. You have your lists for why you believe Brexit is failing but for me personally I’m more glad than ever we left the EU, even though doing so makes my life that wee bit more difficult it’s a small price to pay to be shot of such bile filled spitemongers.
  15. To be honest it hardly makes a difference to me. Maybe save one home Covid test but I think in Scotland Norway is already self-isolation free. Surely you see that the EU have been playing the same game? They have blood on their hands weaponising the AZ vaccine for purely political reasons. They’re all playing games at our expense but I feel the U.K. is just responding in kind to the EUs schemes.
  16. Good news for me I guess? But it’s been nothing but political from the outset. Fly to Oslo and drive over. 😁
  17. I have a B751. Logosol have their manual on-line, its quite detailed and covers all the adjustments so you'd be able to see them in some kind of detail. Im not sure if I have a picture of the water/lube system? I'll have a look. Its quite basic though and not like some of the other mills that now has an auto lube function, but it would be simple to add I think.
  18. It is an asset though. If you sell it you'll have the money in a bank account you own. You're choosing to see a significant difference because taxing a £600k homeowner even more does not and will not likely ever affect you, but paying an export tax does. It smacks of hypocrisy you see all the time with Pinko Commies. Thats just your own opinion though and clearly not one shared with someone who is forking out that much. A 1969 Dodge Charger in good condition is now worth about £40,000 minimum. Is it worth that? The construction cost was obviously no where near that. So what makes it worth £40k. Supply and demand of course. I have a 3 bedroom house. I also owned in Stavanger, which is an oil town and had a postage stamp size plot of land. So Ive owned accross the spectrum.
  19. Ive not had a payrise in 5 years. So I wholeheartedly agree!
  20. Its not fair I know, but in my opinion suggesting someone who owns a £600k house should pay even more tax, when they are already taxed to the hilt is not fair either. I pay over £40k in tax to Norway a year, I can assure you I receive far less in return for it. Yes it is. Coming from someone bitching about paying 22% to export a machine that you've already paid for is a bit rich. Lets just rebrand the export tax to something you feel others (but clearly not yourself) should pay and we'll all be happy campers.
  21. You might not be suggesting that the houses are taxed directly, but you might as well be considering you're suggesting that if they own such a home that they should pay even more tax than they already are. Id go as far to suggest its not beyond the realms of improbability that someone who is not of retirement age and owns such a house is paying more in tax a year (be it income tax, NI and council tax) than you contribute in 5. You're suggesting that they pay even more so that you can have an easier day driving around in your road blocking machinery. Perhaps its the likes of yourself that should be forced into funding the betterment of the local infrastructure and not those who are already heavily burdened with tax? A 22% export tariff would go someway to help.
  22. You might not think it’s wee bit of tax yet that seems to be exactly what you expect someone who owns a £600k house to fork out. They’d say the exact same thing as you. £20k on an asset (their house) that did not previously have such a tax on it. Surely you see the irony here?
  23. I dont see a fundamental difference really. Those who can afford a £600k mortgage are already paying a huge amount in income tax. Not to mention the significant Stamp Duty owed on the purchase then the higher bands of council tax. Why on earth should they be tapped for even more? Yet when you get hit with a wee bit of tax on your Forwarder you go nuts.
  24. Im not sure really. Certainly in Stavanger and Bergen. But I have collages on the East side of Norway who have stated the same, so Id say it was countrywide.
