  1. I have a B751. Logosol have their manual on-line, its quite detailed and covers all the adjustments so you'd be able to see them in some kind of detail. Im not sure if I have a picture of the water/lube system? I'll have a look. Its quite basic though and not like some of the other mills that now has an auto lube function, but it would be simple to add I think.
  2. It is an asset though. If you sell it you'll have the money in a bank account you own. You're choosing to see a significant difference because taxing a £600k homeowner even more does not and will not likely ever affect you, but paying an export tax does. It smacks of hypocrisy you see all the time with Pinko Commies. Thats just your own opinion though and clearly not one shared with someone who is forking out that much. A 1969 Dodge Charger in good condition is now worth about £40,000 minimum. Is it worth that? The construction cost was obviously no where near that. So what makes it worth £40k. Supply and demand of course. I have a 3 bedroom house. I also owned in Stavanger, which is an oil town and had a postage stamp size plot of land. So Ive owned accross the spectrum.
  3. Ive not had a payrise in 5 years. So I wholeheartedly agree!
  4. Its not fair I know, but in my opinion suggesting someone who owns a £600k house should pay even more tax, when they are already taxed to the hilt is not fair either. I pay over £40k in tax to Norway a year, I can assure you I receive far less in return for it. Yes it is. Coming from someone bitching about paying 22% to export a machine that you've already paid for is a bit rich. Lets just rebrand the export tax to something you feel others (but clearly not yourself) should pay and we'll all be happy campers.
  5. You might not be suggesting that the houses are taxed directly, but you might as well be considering you're suggesting that if they own such a home that they should pay even more tax than they already are. Id go as far to suggest its not beyond the realms of improbability that someone who is not of retirement age and owns such a house is paying more in tax a year (be it income tax, NI and council tax) than you contribute in 5. You're suggesting that they pay even more so that you can have an easier day driving around in your road blocking machinery. Perhaps its the likes of yourself that should be forced into funding the betterment of the local infrastructure and not those who are already heavily burdened with tax? A 22% export tariff would go someway to help.
  6. You might not think it’s wee bit of tax yet that seems to be exactly what you expect someone who owns a £600k house to fork out. They’d say the exact same thing as you. £20k on an asset (their house) that did not previously have such a tax on it. Surely you see the irony here?
  7. I dont see a fundamental difference really. Those who can afford a £600k mortgage are already paying a huge amount in income tax. Not to mention the significant Stamp Duty owed on the purchase then the higher bands of council tax. Why on earth should they be tapped for even more? Yet when you get hit with a wee bit of tax on your Forwarder you go nuts.
  8. Im not sure really. Certainly in Stavanger and Bergen. But I have collages on the East side of Norway who have stated the same, so Id say it was countrywide.
  9. Geeeez, your Communist is showing.
  10. In Norway everyone seems obsessed with renovating their houses/apartments and getting a new 'tax' on it, ie, getting it revalued to see how much more its now worth. Its certainly not a UK centric phenomena. Getting your house re-valued and seeing what additional equity you have in your property allows the home owner to get loans for Cabins and Boats etc. Or even adding them to the existing Mortgage.
  11. Good luck with the build. Will be interesting to see how it progresses. It might be worth taking the time to have a closer look at a Woodlands, Woodmizer or Logosol Bandsaw as there is a lot of engineering gone into the designs that will allow you to fine tune the Mill. Being off by as little as a 1mm will throw your cut right off and even more so at the widest setting. I've found myself spending a good 24 hours fine tuning my Logosol so that its cutting true, and that with getting the Saw Head delivered pre-assembled with all the built in adjustments available. On my Logosol there is adjustments to the Band Wheels on each side, there is adjustments to the band guide bearings on each side, there is adjustments on the guide arm that comes in and out depending on the size of log you're milling and there is adjustments to the raise and lower chains on each side of my Mill and a few others pre-set for the Saw Head itself from the factory, so at least 4 sets of adjusters on each side to ensure you cut true. When any one of these adjustments is off you'll cut badly. A 1-2mm Band is far less forgiving that a Chainsaw Bar for cutting true.
  12. 5.5m x 1m x 1.5” for £850-£1000 for U.K. Burr Oak? After planning maybe 1” thick? Damn, I’ll have to get some of that action! [emoji16]
  13. I always have better ripening removing the leaves covering the tomatoes. I guess there will always be conflicting opinions though. “If the fruits are hidden under the leaves, thin out the foliage a little to let the sun through to ripen them. “ How to Grow Tomatoes WWW.GARDENERSWORLD.COM Find out how to grow tomatoes, with advice on sowing, growing and harvesting, in our Grow Guide. “For cordon (indeterminate) tomatoes, there is evidence by that removing some leaves above the ripening truss (which allows the fruit to be warmer during the day but cooler at night) can encourage slightly earlier ripening, without negatively affecting cropping. “ How to grow tomatoes / RHS Gardening WWW.RHS.ORG.UK I always pinch out the tip a couple of leaves about the 6-7th truss in the Polytunnel and 4th truss outdoors.
  14. Do you remove the majority of the leaves or did get drop themselves? I was of the understanding that the leaves need to stay (by not shade) to allow the tomatoes to reach their full potential.
  15. It may well have started before the SNP where in power but they've been in power for how long now? They have had ample time and opportunity to turn this shocking statistic around but have failed miserably. I guess its not something they really want to do, why rock the boat of their voter base, huh? It matters not to which drug you where personally referring to, the fact of the matter is the SNP dish out shockingly high doses of drugs at the very same chemists family's, generally uwnwittingly, pop into on a daily basis. My wife was a Dispensing Technician and could tell you a few horror stories, and thats in a small town.
  16. If you never realised the SNP handed out drugs then perhaps you where on them when you wrote the second part of your reply
  17. I can provide a copy of the felling license for all the timber I sell. I could even drive the customer, or walk if they prefer, to the very estate where they where extracted.
  18. Scottish drug deaths hit a new record of 1,339 - the worst in Europe | Daily Mail Online WWW.DAILYMAIL.CO.UK The grim toll went up 5 per cent last year, the seventh annual rise in a row, as the country continued to have the worst... Dont ya just love the SNP.
  19. I covered this Leslie when I mentioned any kind of certificate or paper trail. If there is no paperwork then you simply do not know. Anyone who feels strongly about the environment would then be unable to make an informed decision if there was no paperwork. If there is then great.
  20. There is a lot of regulations in regard to what Trees can and cannot be cut down in the UK. TPO's Felling licences etc. You simply cannot go around felling trees, especially endangered trees in complete disregard for the environment and the species. There might well be millions and million of trees in Africa but the destruction of entire ecosystems over there to feed our whims is rampant. Now Im not saying Id not buy one of these slabs if I had a use for one but Im equally sure that if I did Id not be be getting a certificate to show its not been felled in compliance for any regard for the environment. Im sure you're not as naïve as this either. People should not be mocked by the likes of yourself for caring about the worlds ecosystem nor the huge carbon footprint of shipping Timber all over the World. Anyway, looking for ward to seeing the pictures Black Limba looks stunning.
  21. I’ll try and time my trip for a Sunday to Thursday 😁
  22. Some fair points J. It’s just the delivery you need to work on. 😗😝 I remember the euphoria of leaving Scotland to move to Norway and the daily feeling of amazement at how much better Norway was than Scotland, but as the years worn on it just became life and home was home, more for the missus mind. I do miss Norway but I love Scotland. I’ll most likely retreat into the Highlands more and more as I get older for much the same reasons you mention. Sure looks like you took that pic whilst driving a LHD car. 🤣
  23. I genuinely think that no matter the evidence presented to you you’ll point blank refuse to accept or acknowledge the systematic failure of U.K. being a member of the EU and will downplay the U.K. prospering post-Brexit to anything other than leaving the EU. The U.K. dong badly just now? That’s Brexits fault, nothing to do with Covid. The EU recovering very well in years to come? That was because of Covid, nothing to do with Brexit. The problems you complain about living where you do I find myself smiling at since I have a rather fit sister-in-law who lives a stones throw away from you and posts multiple times a day of her Swimming and running and living an outdoor lifestyle. She’s seriously into her outdoor swimming. But the rest of what you complain about (as you know) simply don’t exist here in Scotland. Norway might not be the ideal place to live in Scandinavia, but the rest of Scandinavia sure likes to come here to live and work.
  24. People want to buy second homes in the U.K., people want to buy second homes in Norway. But far more people in Norway but second homes and I can sssure you it’s not just cabins by lakes, not even remotely close. Far more affordable? You have to be kidding me! House prices here are extortionate. It’s inconceivable for one parent to work here and make ends meet. Even for the second parent to work part time is a stretch. Kids never see their parents it’s a crying shame. Dropped off at pre-school, school then either walk home themselves and make their own dinner or it’s after school club then wait to be picked up. All from the age of 1. The state raise the children here, not the parents. They might well be building more, but then Norway is virtually empty. The U.K. is not. Again, ending unfettered migration from 3rd world countries in the EU unquestionably had to end to slow down the over population boom we’re experiencing.
