swmbo decided our shed needs replacing as its getting a bit tatty, just a bog standard 8x4. Called a couple local firms who make them and was shcocked when they wanted between £975-£1300 delivered not erected! Thought sod that ill make one, called the local sawmill and the tonge and groove shiplap to make an poxy little 8x4 shed is 700 quid alone! Is this blatent profiteering or has timber really gone up by that much ? Thinking of buying a spindle router and making my bloody own.

not quite cannot claim all the VAT back if any private element, i.e. getting picked up to goto work Will pay £60k pa in BIK tax. Cannot claim 15% pa as its a planet killer, HMRC will only allow 6% If VAT is claimed on purchase it must be charged on sale. The rich really aren't that stupid as they pay people to do it properly.

if there was no vat on the original purchase invoice you cannot then charge it. Just ring up the vat helpline they will tell you the same. -

this is 100% incorrect. if you have been charged VAT on the original purchase of the equipment then you'll have to charge VAT on any subsequent sale. If you're selling second hand equipment you bought previously, then no VAT is charged on the sale. However, VAT will be due on the margin if you sell it at a profit. Dont be caught up with VAT fraud, HMRC have more power than the rozzers.
