Extinction maybe not but do a little bit of research and you will see numbers are dramatically down in regards rural Fox numbers in the UK. Modern sighting technology, comparatively cheap accurate rifles etc etc killing them has become a very efficient and popular pastime.

Local keeper here has shot 127 fox this year. No bragging or boasting that figure came from his boss. Modern technology ie thermal imaging, night vision, electronic callers and ever more accurate calibres will make the Fox ? a rare creature I fear. I wonder how many more are killed nowadays as opposed to when hunts dealt with the controlling them. Thermal at night zero chance, mounted hunt some chance ?♂️Anyone whom has any knowledge of how it works will tell you it’s in no way a sure thing to catch anything.

Did I once say anything to justify any particular form of hunting ??, I’ve stated right from the beginning of this topic that the whole grouse/pheasant thing is not for me at all. Irrational fear ?? You think so. One thing at a time is the anti hunting mentality.

Non hunting and anti hunting there is a huge huge difference !!. Anti hunt groups have made it clear it’s one thing at a time, start with the easy targets and work up to the likes of fishing.

You didn’t know pistols were illegal in the UK?? Shooters in the UK have never been allowed automatic weapons, pre Hungerford SEMI auto full bore were legal for certain competitive disciplines.

?? That’s some level of knowledge, 2 at 3.5m 1at 2.9m long and all at 300x130mm. If its of any use it genuinely stinks when cutting it, not very scientific I know ?♂️

??? All very very PC actually way too much for me. Perceived risks !! Legal alternatives !! Enjoyment !! Wrong hands !!, serious incidents with legally held firearms!!. All well used lines. What I shot or shoot is irrelevant and most sensible responsible shooters will not broadcast online their activities. You can if you need to and actually I do not believe in reality you are as naive to UK firearms laws as you say, find out all about UK firearms legislation online in no time at all. What you won’t find so easily is the facts behind each case and the failings of existing legislation at the time. Water under the bridge now unfortunately.

?♂️?♂️All the information he apparently requires is easily available in great detail online. To have shot full and small bore and other disciplines inc air rifles yet to have no knowledge of any of the number of tragic events leading to changes in the firearms legislation is unusual to say the least.

You probably would not get a sect 1 shotgun slot for wild fowling, but a lot depends on your liaison officer so never say never. Pest control ( pigeon/crow etc) and Practical Shotgun are the two reasons most commonly used. Ref the Fowling im on the lookout for a 10 bore, always fancied one and love those old punt guns ??

Hungerford was semi not auto rifles Dunblane was pistols inc Olympic 22 target pistols courtesy of Blair. Shotgun capacity was restricted to 2+1 unless on an FAC at the same time as semi auto rifles went sect 5

Cannabis farms and handguns ?♂️?♂️You smoking it right now ?? Inner city criminal firearms use is statistically far far more prevalent than anything that occurs in the countryside or rural locations. You need to get that diving holiday booked and get some high PPO2 into you to clear your head. The era of predators you describe wandering the countryside is long gone. What was the population of the UK last time we had such animals in the wild as opposed to now??. Regarding subsidies and farmers I’d probs not disagree too much but until we are willing to pay a lot more for food then it’s gonna be that way.

You are showing either your age or a total lack of base knowledge of the subject in hand. The info you require is easy to source online and many on here whom are or were shooters will know full well the impact of a succession of firearms amendments starting with semi auto full bore then pistols and recently MARS type eqpt. My point is because it was and is a minority sport it’s easy to chip away at each discipline with relatively little opposition. Death by a thousand cuts and all that regardless of it being one of the safest and most stringently regulated activities an individual can partake in.

Not quite sure of the previous posts meanings but as I’ve said on a number of occasions the whole pheasant/grouse thing is totally and utterly not my idea of a good days shooting. But if you’ve had any experience of legislative selects removal of personnel property etc and the rabid anti field sports mentality of many groups then the idea that some can be justified and others can’t is misguided. To these people any form of field sport and any form of civilian firearms ownership is totally unacceptable. You only need to watch that MSM Covid guidance disciple Piers Morgan in full flow and you can see what they would like to do regarding firearms ownership.

Hi All Acquired some beams today, the guy said they were Jarrah ?, it’s super heavy and stinks when cut. Sliced a bit off one end to take the pic and the place was reeking afterwards. If it is Jarrah is there anything it’s particularly useful for. cheers

I think you will find the impact modern farming methods make to the ecological balance of the countryside are thousands of times more harmful than the shooting you describe. My point is and your comments confirm what I said is that people whom are not affected by it don’t care. Like I say it’s not my thing, tweeds and expensive shotguns but it won’t be a sensible focused bit of legislation as in all things firearms and shooting control it will instead be a knee jerk pandering to the urban left whom despise the countryside and in many cases have zero idea of the husbandry involved in maintaining it. Unless you are a FAC holder and have been on the receiving end of totally unjustified legislation then it’s difficult to realise how easy it is for governments to just legislate a minority sport out of existence.

SNP attitude to all types of shooting is well known. Given an opportunity they would ban the lot. Whilst I’m no fan of that type of shooting I know as an FAC holder for 25yrs how it’s easy to pick off different disciplines, Hand gun owners were singled out after the tragic events at Dunblane whilst a lot of the shooting associations and governing bodies sat back and did nothing. The same attitude may well be shown to the tweed wearing types with a line of range rovers parked on the moors. Long term it will only go one way and that’s one more shooting discipline ticked off the list.
