I know an old guy he had a pinch in a medium rotting oak tree and instead of pulling the saw out of the pinch he pushed it in and got stuck, Roll on a year later the power head was still attached to the bar buried in the tree, the old boy was too ashamed to ask for help

As had been said before, auto dark shield is a god send. It frees up an extra hand for work positioning and adjustment. I've got an inverter welder and my favourite is the short rods in 1.6mm I seem to have better control and better welds but I am looking at picking up a small mig setup

Paul O-Grady just grates my nerve along with Keith lemon, alan carr anyone from the towie type shows and janet street porter. also Paddy mcguiness, vernon kay and Ant and Dec. I wont watch anything with then in, I'd rather read a book than give them airtime

I've made my own exhaust gaskets before with the metal impregnated gasket board. Very tough to cut so I use a dremel to cut the interior and tin snips for the outer edge. I sometimes use it as heatshield for strimmers and ported saws before they melt the plastic covers

I've got an 038 and a 391, I had the opportunity of a 380 but I wanted new after the 038. Great saws and capable and comfortable all day for firewood and work, I block up rings with a 13" bar and it's a devil and I push it felling with a 23" bar.

This morning I replaced the brake band on a husky 450 and started replacing the brake handle on my ms391 but found I need more parts deeper in the saw. Only a pin for the spring/lever behind the brake linkage but a PITA as I'm not near the dealership anytime soon

Thanks, that video shows it perfectly. looks like I need to order a spring pin. I've not seen them on the 038's I've worked on in the past

I'm just changing the chain break handle on my 391 and I've found this misc lever and spring. It looks like the springs not been connected to anything since new but should it be fitted in place as in the second pic? ? I've been through the oil/sawdust muck and not found a pin and nothing is listed on the IPL

Had an ms261 to look at, engine seizure at 18 months old Along with the last 261 and a 260 in just under four years

I've used a ball cutter on a dremel to reach in tight areas to stop cracks in fins, You just have to work on both sides

I've been cutting oak and poplar, the oak has been everything that won't go through the splitters( knotty nobbly and awkward cuts ) All processed for small wood burners and a heap of noodled saw dust mulch for the flowerbeds. -
I've a mac 842 carb soaking in acetone trying to get all the chain oil out but im waiting for a carb kit for it. the customer got the fuel and oil tanks mixed up and left the saw sitting for months with oil in the carb

Depends on length and how it's stacked when it's going out,. processed wood is 60 euros a cubic metre here for 500mm 75 euros for 300mm, 1200 lengths is only 40 euros but a lot of work with an axe

I've also cancelled a few clients orders and passed on their details to someone else. The access is a real PITA for one and the others out of my catchment area, it's not all down to money but travelling/working time on site soon adds up

I've already started delivering wood June and July. Only because it's easier with dry ground conditions rather than churning up the drives and gardens with the trailer or creating work the wheel barrow

a new engine and fitting is basically the same price as a new machine, and a new piston and gaskets plus fitting is basically the same as a new engine. if it was a quality machine different rules apply but some customers only look at the bottom line when purchasing and not the longevity of the product YMMV

I have my 041 in bits for a piston replacement as it had a split in the impulse line and is now buggered but i hope the pot is salvagable . and an uneconomical repair for a 52cc chinese strimmer thats got some minor scoring of the piston but wont even turn over, the client is going to be gutted as its his favorite toy and just out of warranty

I use Oak for my chopping blocks but i always big up the benefits of pine chopping blocks to customers. easier to lift, cheaper, eco friendly Etc it also clears out the supply of pine rounds that would otherwise be dumped /kindling or recycled at the tip and saves the quality oak for firewood sales pine also deteriorates quicker so i get rid of more of them

another vote for the X27 and i use a stump 600mm to 700mm tall to split on and i normally use a brush hook to split kindling but i do have a small hultaors axe if needed and i have an old workmate for noodling the really gnarly stuff that the splitters wont touch

on my 450 i changed the rim from 7 to 8 and no problems with an extra link but thats a husky and not a stihl there should be enough travel in the chain adjuster but im sure wiser minds will confirm

Too big for the workshop but the front axle assembly of the trailer has parted ways with the chassis, so the floor will have to come out and the trailer will go down to the welders for some work. But good news both log splitters are up and running one after a little tune up service and the big log buster was welded and the oil side of things serviced
