  1. The thing is the price of every thing else has gone up as well not just the price of a tractor. Something else that went up was a ton of wheat per acre. I do believe its now four tons as opposed to one... would he like to go back to getting just the one ton out?... somethin tells me he wouldn't..
  2. Ten quid for a loaf?.. you must be out your mind.. I'm surprised you got 100 quid for a ton of wheat and only get 140 today mind.. still, it proves how much more efficient farming has become.. we should all tip our hat in that regard..
  3. If they done well with their pensions then why should they worry about utility bills?.. and I wish you wouldn't go on about subsidies... thats not something you get for free, its my fkin electric bill paying for your in laws home improvements... Next time I get an electric bill I aught turn up at their semi and demand they pay some of my bill, see how that goes down..
  4. I've a 8*5 tipper myself.. but I can't fit the chipper in my veto.. I've also got a small trailer I can run the chipper onto but its a pain in the arse pulling it on.. I tend to shiver at thought of the hassle involved.. I was looking at a trailer on ebay with winch fitted.. that could work I suppose.. My ideal set up would be jo beua 500 if it fitted into the back of a veto.. but costs.. take me years to get my money back.. Not thats thats ever bothered me mind.. lost count of the equipment I've bought over the years that I simply must have, only to find I hardly use it once I have it...
  5. haven't done much beyond still thinking on it.. The trouble is I need a cheap trailer, and every one I see one on ebay that might do, I start to worry about the work involved.. or the associated problems. got myself a welding set up, set about welding a few practice bits of metal and discovered I can't weld for shit.. used to be good at it once over, now I can't see where the hell I am and end up zigzagging hoping to get the right bit.. its not good!!.. I'm starting to think about buying a box trailer and putting the chipper in the back then blow the chip into the back of the trailer. One option anyways.. I've found that no matter what I think is a good idea, the next day it seems the worse possible solution. can't imagine how I thought it would even work.. Trouble is doin tree's isn't something I do full time, truth be told its more like a hobby, as long as I get a dozen tree's in a season I'm happy so its hard to justify spending to much on the equipment I might need.. But I do still intend to build one as I described, only its gonna have to wait.. perhaps in the middle of summer..
  6. Playing the devils advocate, our manicured hill farms are what attract tourists as well as our farming landscape in general.. Tourism is a much bigger earner than farming.. I'm not sure I agree with wilding of our hill country.. I'd hate to imagine our hills covered in stunted shrubs and tree's..
  7. lost mine twenty years back, never got round to reaplying.. I'll get round to it if I have to.. I can't see the point with me though, I'll lose that after ten minutes.. as far as I'm concerned the less I have the less I have to lose..
  8. If you lose it as I have you explain why you can't produce it.. they do some digging and find your OK, then tell you to get a new one.. Then you promise to get yourself a new one but never find the time..
  9. Or, they could be telling the truth.. Its like that saying that all bullies are cowards.. it isn't true, but it does make their victims feel better..
  10. All these politicians are bending over backwards to go green, not that they have a clue what costs might be involved.. believe me shove some green looking legislation in front of a minister and chances are he'll stamp it without looking to hard into it..
  11. went that rout once, bought a dodgy MOT off someone I knew.. asked if it was nicked from a garage assured me it was from a friends garage.. filled it in for me with his best hand writing, that afternoon took to produce at the police station.. spent the next four hrs in the cop shop being interrogated.. they did tell me the MOT in question was from a garage that had recently been broken into.. if it wasn't for the fact I didn't want to be a grass I'd of dobbed him in for lying. cost me a good few quid that.. I would of been better getting one straight.. never again..
  12. Yea, brakes and lights and other such things should be checked for, but, if you've cut the EGR off I don't see how thats dangerous.. If your asking me we should all kick a fuss up about these crappy add ons that hardly work to begin with.. and don't be blaming europe for all these new regulations, they couldn't of brought them in without our own government endorsing it..
  13. or you could ask around and see if you can find a dodgy MOT station.. I can see that being a thing over the next few years..
  14. I've noticed the Brexiteers pushing the green agenda over the last year or so.. same as that tit whatshisname Mr Mogg goin on about cheaper childrens shoes when we come out.. Like does anyone think he gives a monkeys about poor people.. Anyways, they'll just about agree to anything to get brexit through, soften the blow, throw the peasants a fish.. wait till we're out.. be right back to arguing for less bureaucracy and the re-introduction of DDT.. The mind boggles that people can't see right through their shenanigans..
  15. If you have any sense it is about the money.. and yes it is a good idea, if it was cost effective.. batteries will keep getting better, reminds me of the 100mtrs world record. sure it gets beat here an there, but not by anything worth trumpeting about...
  16. a pop at someone?.. I think the point is to make you think before you act. ask questions, not jump on a bandwagon.. How much will it cost? how much will I save.. how reliable is it likely to be in the real world, maintenance costs?.. Look on utube see its been covered and see if its been debunked as a scam.. I've already looked at a few counter arguments to this Tesla Powerwall, one by the Washington Posts suggests it will take 38 years to get your money back.. given thats in america it might be a shorter time span over here, even less with grants or subsidies.. The point being the real costs are hidden, and one of those real costs is inverters, apparently they don't last long in real world conditions.. might want to investigate replacing those every year or so, and thats not to mention the battery pack if it gives up the ghost and your out of warranty..
  17. What would be the motivation?.. If you think its to save money forget it.. if its to go green then more power to you.. And stop complaining about subsidies being withdrawn, if you want it buy it buy out your own pocket, I don't subsidize your car, I don't see why I should subsidize your damn Tesla Powerpack..
  18. Perhaps his battery has gone flat!!..
  19. And you must realize if it is for manufacturing battery's its a Panasonic plant..
  20. Yea, Tesla makes the car, Panasonic makes the battery's.. sort of like Richard Branson, he puts his name on something and people buy it because it has his endorsement.. I imagine its the same with Tesla and Panasonic. they make the battery's but he sticks Tesla on em..
  21. ha
  22. OK, I'll see if I can find the article.. I may be some time.
  23. read somewhere they em made under licence.. heard some fella on utube mention it as well.. both can't be wrong can they?...
