  1. Reg is kinda regarded by some of us,cant speak for all of the guys on here,as the kind of climber us average guys aspire to be like.Hope thats cleared it up for you Better go,i can hear stuff being sharpened!
  2. Hey all,Being the wrong side of 40(a while ago i might add),i came into climbing late in life.I do however pride myself on my professionalism, positive work ethic and attention to detail, even though i work for my local authority! and subbie to a local tree company. Our council work load recently has almost doubled and as a consequence we have had to sub contract some work out. On friday we worked with a private company and watching these guys work took my breath away,so quick around the tree so fluent it was literally a sight too behold. It honestly made me feel sub standard as a climber, now im no reg coates but i thought i was a pretty decent climber. So my question is this"what are you ? A Reg Coates or a hacker?
  3. North arb supplies, honey brothers and skyland for your kit.Treevolution/cut above tree services or sruc barony campus lantra for your tickets.Climbers companion, knots at work both by jeff jepson and a guide to good climbing practice by arboricultural assosiation for reading.Good luck
  4. Got one the other day, havent tried it yet.Wil comment when i do,although it doesnt seem any lighter than the stihl rollomatic
  5. Sorry but a hitch is midline attachable, doesnt need cams replacing and can be advanced one handed with a pulley or a shizll rope slider with about a quarter of the cost! Just doesnt seem worth the money or hassle too buy an art positioner too me
  6. If you offer to work for nothing for one day it shows you have the balls to show an employer that your not just looking to get paid. Some guys genuinly want to learn, thats the point some of u guys are missing.Lets be honest here a half decent employer would slip you a couple of quid at the end of the shift anyway,bt i dont think doin 1 day unpaid work to get future work js a bad thing
  7. I got my first job working in a garage by volunteering to do anything,1st week unpaid after that employer gave wot he thought id earned. Its not about being paid or unpaid its about showing an prospective employer that your willing to do wotever it takes to get the work.
  8. How did we get from wot to look for in a groundie to arseholes and cream pie
  9. Radio does'nt play guitar music any more anyway!
  10. Avoid stihl harnesses theyre crap, cant comment on huskey ones but the oregons r really comfy and can be adjusted from small to xx fat,i mean xx large
  11. Cs 30 is a necessity, anything else is a bonus really.Remember a great work ethic will get an employer to invest in you by gettin you the relevant tickets and courses.Older guys seem to do better than young halfwits dickin about on there f@#n fones
  12. Imigrants, migration, refugees, pain, suffering, politics blah blah blah..why wont this thread die! Thought this was ARBtalk???
  13. Am i being as dumb as a bag of hammers, have i missed something here?If you can get access for a cherry picker why not use it,as long as you put boards down to save the lawn, why not???
  14. That my friend is a thing of beauty!
  15. I stand corrected sir-i doff my hat to you guvnor:thumbup:
  16. Totally agree with you on the stihl rollomatic guidebars, however the are on the heavy side and lifespan can be quite short depending on the type of work the saw is being exposed to regularly.Cheerz for your thoughts,i guess i ll give it some more thought.Tbf they dont seem to do a guidebar for the 201T anyway
  17. Hey mark if you dont mind me asking are they worth the price considering the bar has more longevity, also what saw do you run the bar on and is it felling/climbing etc. Cheerz
  18. Hey all, been hearing and seeing a lot of guys online and on you tube raving about sugihara guidebars, how light they are, more balanced, rails dont wear out etc.Is it all propaganda by people being sponsored by sugihara or is the product worth purchasing??? Anyone using them? How do the handle compared to standard stihl/oregon/husky bars. Cheerz
  19. Hornets and humans are fine and left alone they rarely bother anyone. However they wipe out bees and have been known to eradicate entire honey bee hives of thousands in hours.Considering the plight of our native bees, hornet nests have to be controlled.Im no expert but id imagine if you have a beekeeper within a mile radius he might not take to kindly to his livelyhood being wiped out in 1 day.A healthy balance has to be maintained in any ecosystem.Id recommend getting expert advice on controlling the hornet nest.
  20. Great vid, canada looks fantastic..dont think i could work there though, too many conifers and my knees couldnt take all that spiking.
  21.
