  1. Common has a lovely aniseed aroma when chipped. I suppose its what's more cost effective-hauling or chipping
  2. Surely a spruce lower branches would be accessable to get into the tree?

Difficult situation,if it was me id use ladders to get as high into the tree as possible,tie in to a solid anchor in a neighbouring tree and ascend by throwing ahead till you have access to the crown.Once you've got a good T.I.P you can move around freely.Failling that have would you consider hiring a MEWP?Avoid spiking any tree thats not to be removed.   4. What type of laurel is it,bay,portugese or common?
  5. Ive chipped laurels before although its recommended not to as its poisonous.Cyanide is produced in the sap especially when burned but also when chipped and a vapour comes from it.
  6. If theres a good profit in the job then why not stay overnight at a cheap B&B near the job site to save travelling
  7. Do bottom line if im reading this right,an inexperienced member of staff is using a blunt saw...a blunt saw is a dangerous saw.If he cant/wont sharpen it,hes draggin brush and raking up cuttings.Dont care how promising he is
  8. I also subbie climb and in my experience having doing the right thing doesnt pay the morgage.You can advise the contractor/client but id rather go home paid than go home happy.just my opinion mate

  17. Yeah theres a big difference between small items being taken off the back of a van spur of the moment to organised raids emptying an entire yard of its machinery.Its all too common im afraid,u see it a lot on facebook etc
  18. My own fault,i thought nipping round the back of a block of flats to see thursdays 1st job it would be ok.Wiley ninja theiving barstewards...literally 2 minutes and it was gone

I work for my local authority and i know EXACTLY what you mean and how you feel.Simple fact is it a big decision and only you can make it.The real teller for me when i left my last job was gettin up in the morning and dreading going in-thats the point you know somethings got to give.If the job and the people are making you miserable as well as accusing you of theft,then its time to go.You never know,a year from now you may look back on this as the best decision you ve ever made.Good luck-keep us posted
