  1. Holy crap-seriously? I had no idea it was that bad. Glad i work for my LA
  2. Hey all, Could'nt quite believe what i was being told today-hence the title of the thread. So anyway we were out cutting back branches overhanging a public path with pole pruners when the elderly lady in the gable end property came out to speak to us,turns out she was the one who had phoned in the job to the local authority. She was in her 80's and was obviously quite lonely as she was more than keen to chit chat to myself and the rest of the boys. Several cups of tea and what seemed to be an endless supply of choccy biscuits later she told us a story of "That wee tree in ma garden". Shes got a small cedar in her back garden that had some branches over hanging her neighbours property, much to the annoyance of the neighbour. After much protestations from the neighbour she asked a local "gardener"to come and remove the branches, trusting the guy as he was recommended to her by a friend. This plonker turns up,bow saws off 5 branches-at the exact point where the branch crosses the boundery line and charges her 50 quid! 10 quid per branch,he then tells her he cant take the branches away as technically the branches belonged to her neighbour because the hung over her property.Neighbour returns too see 5 branches dumped in her garden,a butchered tree and a neighbour 50 quid down! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE ?everyone has to make a living but to blatantly rip off pensioners is despicable. I was utterly shocked at this guys actions Unbelievable...yet sadly believable
  3. Mega wet in glasgow today, then again thats the norm here. Thanks jon
  4. We sometimes use 044's and you can feel the difference in havs when going back to the newer saws with all the anti vibration technology on them. Its a brave man who would use an 076 all day thats for sure mick
  5. Yeah its the lack of fruiting clusters thats got me doubting your ID,im no expert just flicking through some books and putting up some species that match the photographic profile.
  6. Leaves seem to match big bud hickory but could be shagbark. A picture of the bark could confirm it:001_smile:
  7. Looks like hickory to me-carya tomentosa or carya ovata
  8. Oh-i too have the bad habit of not wrapping my thumb round the handle
  9. White finger is due to exposure to vibrating tools over long periods of time.Im no expert on this but to my mind holding a power tool of any description tightly would certainly quicken the onset of w/f.
  10. Isnt that like being at home but playing like your at work?
  11. Prepare to be inundated with advice, most good some not so good. Some will promote certain brands of chainsaw, some will go the training and PPE route, which i would advocate. But at the end of it all you might be slightly wiser but a whole lot more confused.Good luck Have fun!
  12. Was gonna start a new thread earlier called one of those days-cause ive just had a proper crap day, where if it could go tits up it did, then i read ollies thread...puts things into perspective.
  13. Sometimes lifes a total ba##!@d,i feel for you mate i really do,a company i sub for sometimes got hit a while back and all the lads were idle for couple of weeks...not good.
  14. Looks great will, only thing i would add,and its only a minor thing is more photos on the gallery.Great going, best of luck
  15. I use the miller komet butterfly, which if you delve into some of the old threads,im sure you'll find some climbers trashing it.I absoloutly love my harness and rate it very highly. Harnessess are very personal;and you may have to shop around till you find that perfect fit for you. I have worked with 2 members of the fairer sex who are ecologists and used treehog harnessess for bat studys and both loved the harness. If your not climbing every day then comfort is not high on the list of nessesities in a harness, but price and functionality is so i totally understand your constraints on price. Good luck finding your special harness partner, when you do you'll just know
  16. Harnessess are a personal choice anyway and vary in opinion from one climber to the next.
  17. No im not, read the whole thread and you ll see what i mean from my comment on 1st page. Ive no experience of treehog harness so cant comment on it.
