  1. Ive used both stihls-171/181,and didnt like either.Have you concidered an echo chainsaw. There are some threads on these pages raving about there pulling power and longevity. If at all possible concider an older stihl, ive had a ms180 for donkeys years and its saved the day many a time when my "newer/better"saws have chucked it.worth thinkin about imo
  2. Bang on mick,as a company if you sub contract work out your insurance has to cover anyone working under the company umbrella ie subbies and your own staff-of course. It would benefit a subbie to have his/her own insurance cover so they can take on there own jobs aswell though.
  3. Whats next having to produce your cs30/31 to buy some crap chainsaw at B&Q? Anyone can get a top handled saw off ebay,no questions asked.I appreciate the intention of regulatory bodies but were adults, let us buy what we want.
  4. Its not unusual for groundies to get NMW of 6.70 in scotland. Even less if your a young buck under 21.
  5. You may be right mate.More pictures will follow for us i see
  6. Haha -Looks great fun, would definetly improve my game!
  7. I am not aware of any species of pendula poplar either, the leaf looks similar to black pop but the leaves also match Tilia tomentosa petiolaris-weeping silver lime.a close up of bark and leaf would greatly assist ID imo
  8. Betula pendula -silver birch,i dont think so mate look at the bark on the trunk.Birch bark is silvery/grey.Granted the leaves look birchesque but more like betula pubescens-downy birch. But im still sold on beech
  9. Top 1st one looks a bit estate agenty to me.no offence just my opinion
  10. i think this is a good idea but shouldnt this stuff be in the site specific risk assessment anyway?
  11. Yes it would eggs, unfortunatly we have a government who place so much emphasis on being employed yet forget how much those employees are remunerated.Working poverty is all too common nowadays.
  12. "Size doesnt matter its what you do with it that counts" Heard that before somewhere, think the wife mentioned it in the past ??
  13. Before you put the nearest hospital number in make sure it has an accident/emergency room.No point turning up to the nearest hospital that has no A&E.
  14. If the guys kit is inspected and passed by loler every 6 months then it will last idefinatly ,unless you have the ability to look into the future and say exactly when it will wear out.Thats why i said indefinatly not last forever.Obviously everything will wear out within time that goes without saying. And loler strongly recommend that mechanical devices are inspected every 6 months aswell due to internal degredation of parts which ive stated above. And,unlike you,i dont know every thing about arboriculture so i was unaware climbing kit was known as PPE.
  15. When we refer to PPE its always our clothing were talkinh about-gloves,boots,helmet,trousers etc. Every days a school day as they say
  16. Yeah not questioning it just sayin never heard of ropes, harnesses etc being referred too as PPE.
  17. What ive said is bang on.Never known climbing kit to be referred to as PPE .
  18. Loler actually highly recommend inspections every 6 months on kit that go unused for long periods as mechanical devices can degrade internally without the user noticing any outer signs if wear.
