  1. Count yourself lucky, €350 for a facom one here.
  2. I love this viz take on the whole diet industry.
  3. And me (buying the better torque wrench) that's my job for the day it seems.
  4. Grinding bigger domestic stumps is all about getting rid of the grindings, if you're wheel barrowing it out of the garden onto a truck on your own it can be a dispiriting experience. Also the tools you bring can make a difference, sometimes a fork will be needed to lift the stuff, sometimes a shovel, a big blower is good, plus a power broom. Another tip is never to reload the grinder before its all clean and tidy because you're always going to find another running root in the final clear up.
  5. That machine should have both those stumps done by lunchtime. Seriously. Edit, at least by the end of the day, the lime is not small.
  6. Does seem odd "here's my price but I will go cheaper" If it works for you I guess.
  7. Almost certainly leaf mould in the cavity, but better safe than sorry I guess.
  8. Yeah, fair enough. Put more money on it seems to be the answer, that'll put a smile on your face.
  9. Decent teeth make a difference, also cut the stump down lower, saves time and arisings.
  10. When grinding I just think about the money, that makes me happy. It's boring but lucrative.
  11. I think one of your belts has broken for starters, see in the second picture. Mine had twin V belts, yours has toothed, check it needs toothed. I also think that electrical connector should be plugged in to the clutch, for that is what it is, or the other connector that is loose. I sold mine a few years ago so cannot check.
  12. So its clearly been topped before or had it blown out in a storm, either way that is a structural weakness. Now you can't have it both ways, either it's a "ticking time bomb" that phrase so beloved of many in this industry to rail against topping or there's no risk. If you took the top out again either by half or back to the previous wound it is much less likely to fail completely or partially at the previous cut/tear, do you deny that? The client is worried, it affects their life, by re topping it it will make them happier and less worried, plus cost an awful lot less than taking it out. We're managing clients as well as trees. You would have to be to be "supremely ignorant" not to factor that into it. Your car use thing is so stupid it's embarrassing but I'll continue the analogy anyway. The use of cars and the existence of trees near houses is something that won't change, but that's no reason not to fasten your seat belt, get the brakes checked and drive carefully is there?
  13. I tried clash of kings but it didn't stick.
  14. Yeah, after the porn obviously.
  15. Ok, so I already waste most of my non working waking life looking at this iPad, Arbtalk, FB, Instagram, Twitter, videos of dogs, cats, ferrets, it's sad really. In order to make the vacuousness of my life complete I feel I should be hopelessly addicted to an interactive game, I like the look of that "Clash of Kings" advertised on the telly. Well at least the girl in the gold top. Anyone play it? Or there's that tank thing. I don't want to use a PlayStation or wii, that would be a step too far. Any experiences or recommendations? Ps I spend all day in the midst of nature (usually destroying it) so don't tell me to get out in the open air.
  16. If I remember rightly wind firming is the removal of a proportion of the upper branches to reduce sail effect but not lowering the height. It gets done on forestry trees on the outside of stands that are more vulnerable to heavy wind. There was a video on here about it somewhere.
  17. Nice to see it working, rather you than me though!
  18. Knock 20ft off the top (halfway up the co-Dom at a guess) reduce wind sail, it's no beauty anyway, so what's the difference? Saves the client money, peace of mind, tell 'em to do it again in 10 years. Looks like it lost its top in a storm or been topped before anyway.
  19. No idea, sometimes it's as sweet as a nut.
  20. The issue I had was that they were sometimes reluctant to come out of 4wd. I had to do a lot of reversing to and fro to make it click back.
  21. I hope it finds a good home.
  22. Honestly. the fact you keep your dog on a chain says to me that you should not have a dog.
