  1. Particularly fine run of pics recently. Well done lads. My poplargeddon job finally came to an end. Had to get these trunks up a hill to the car parking area for removal by a timber lorry. The turf tyres on the Kubota would not get a purchase, so we had to winch these sections halfway, then drive up the top to get them the rest of the way. The winch moaned and squealed a bit but we did it. Drove home with the cheque.
  2. iPads/tablets are great aren't they? I borrowed my brother in laws when I was in hospital for 10 days in 2012. I'm addicted to mine.
  3. I've had jobs in previous lives where there's nothing to do all day. The time drags for sure.
  4. Never done it tbh. I did do a little railwork. Up and down steep banks miles from anywhere, finishing a job before the shutdown was over. Gruesome!
  5. I couldn't give a monkey's. Can't understand why peoples panties are in a bunch. At least he's up front about it. I've often wondered about the compensations of what must be the hardest, least rewarding job in arb.
  6. I also like it, is there no room for creativity in this business?
  7. I skipped straight to 14 minutes. Very good, massive tree. Professional outfit. Mind you, I'd have it on the floor, rasher it down in the back of the transit, be home in time for Neighbours (lunchtime edition)
  8. Can't see it here Darin. Tell a lie, I can watch it on Vimeo (whatever that is)
  9. Huh? It's because older cars need MOTing whereas newer ones don't. It's a bit of a leap of logic to see it as a slap in the face for the poor!
  10. It seems to have feck all to do with his self professed (and almost certainly bogus) religious belief.
  11. Thought about a poll, started to do it but looked complex, then I had to pop out and buy some red diesel and TBH CBAed.
  12. Works here, you want a copper getting in your car to check the mileage?
  13. I think it's 4 years here as well, what is it in England?
  14. Just to satisfy my curiosity.... I use an iPad, I find it allows me to be here, FB, Twitter et al whilst watching telly and "listening" to my wife. I couldn't imagine going back to a laptop, or worse, desktop 'puter. Too much of a commitment to my attention if you get my drift. Those phones like a Galaxy or iPhone whilst great for work are too small for my aged eyes. So what do you all use?
  15. More poplar mayhem, plus fires and a tractor.
  16. I've seen a few turn their toes up after a year or so. The vast majority just come back strongly. Especially if they've got their toes near the water. Pops can go either way it's true.
  17. Next to no issues with my 550. If you're carrying your saw round all day you'll notice the weight difference with a 560.
  18. Sounds good, what makes this job so good is there are so few regulations. The men in hi-viz vests with clipboards are changing that these days more and more.
  19. I had a GM, I found them to be good solid machines with excellent dealer back up. Cannot comment on value for money.
  20. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/large-equipment/52568-greenmech-quad-chip-160-pros-cons.html There you go, some pointers on this thread.
  21. It's not so bad, it's a way of retaining a tree that would otherwise be removed if "the rules" were rigorously adhered to. Rot pockets, fungi, it's all (mostly) good.
