  1. Wait till they try and split euc by hand. They’ll end up throwing it through your window.
  2. Wipe it off with a cloth, put them aside for a day for it to dry out, then just use them.
  3. When we’re in town and go out for a coffee with Igor he’s ok with other dogs until we sit down at a table. Then within a couple of seconds he establishes that this is now ‘our’ territory and no dog can come with 5 or 6 mètres without agression being shown from him. As soon as we stand up to leave he’s back to being ok with other dogs. Funny little bastard he is.
  4. I didn’t lecture her, just got on with it tbh. I didn’t do her any favours on the price, let me put it that way.
  5. No pics, but yesterday I went to look at a job, rang the bell at the gate, dog started barking inside and I noticed the door handle going up and down. Eventually the old lady comes out and we spend a few minutes in the front garden looking at trees. Then we go to the back, I see a malinois (accompanied by an Aussie shepherd) barking at me and jumping up at the French window type door. As we’re yakking about the trees at the rear I keep an eye on the French door, to my horror I see the handle moving, the door opening and the malinois (followed by the other dog) exiting the house at top speed straight towards me! I covered my genital area with my briefcase as it launched itself at me, then ensued a lot of screaming with the woman trying to catch the dogs while the malinois kept trying to get behind me to get at my hamstrings, only breaking off periodically to fight with the Aussie shepherd, presumably about who was going to kill me! Anyway peace broke out and I got the job. I’m ok with dogs, and I know if it really meant it I’d have been in real trouble. But it was no picnic.

  7. Did you think guerilla was gorilla? That is so cute! I used to think that when I was really little listening to the news. Mental pictures of Gorilla armies.

This was my understanding as well. I don’t want a ported saw mind, I like hearing things too much. Plus in domestic arb they’re not necessary and I think the insane noise alienates clients and walk by potential clients. As Mark says, sharpening is a discipline worth practicing.
  10. What are you doing with the land?

  12. When they’re working they’re good. When being the key word.
  13. Very nice, lucky to have that ‘scaffold’ tree or it would have needed another approach.
  14. Not complex, I mean shock load on gear.
  15. With that rope it worked really well.
  16. If the hat fits! Forgot a lowering device of any sort a while back, so used an adjoining stump to help (with a modification)
  17. you could still fit a sling of some sort as a fail safe underneath. Rigging has levels. level 1 is using the end of your own rope to drift an end down. Level 10 is a heavy negative rigging with big rope and a strapped on Bollard and rings/pulleys on top. This combo I’d put at around 5 to 6
  18. Bueller? Anyone……….Bueller……anyone?
  19. If Joe is the only one to understand the question, maybe the question is the problem.
  20. SC is a standard firewood here (France) cheaper than oak. Not at all niche.
  21. Yes, I take your point. But chipping wood is what they do, you cannot treat a chipper like its handicapped, if it doesn’t work to capacity it’s ridiculous. Has any manufacturers ever advised ‘take it easy with these ones, they’re delicate’? I think it was @Mike Hill who speculated that the Först angle of attack on the blade was too aggressive compared to others.

  23. You cannot use a chipper like that, if it goes in, it’s in. Stress control should keep you from damaging it.
  24. You use a ratchet strap for your GRCS and the Hobbs you sold me don’t you? just use that ratchet strap for the POW, hey presto it’s rigid to the tree.
