  1. Computer analysis of games. Basically XG stands for ‘expected goals’ So someone has worked out that (statistically) you’re better off dicking around passing from side to side looking for an opening, rather than having a go from distance.
  2. Not as many shots from outside the box these days, I put it down to XG ratings
  3. It’s like a recurring nightmare. Start well, early goal, then cannot control the game or hold onto the ball. We were lucky against Serbia and…..they’ve just scored.
  4. Wordle 1,097 4/6 ⬜⬜🟩🟨🟩 🟩⬜🟩🟩🟩 🟩⬜🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 doh!
  5. Wordle 1,096 4/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜🟩🟨 🟩🟨⬜🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 ok, happy enough.
  6. Damn you Doug! Under pressure from the off.
  7. Wordle 1,095 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟩🟩 ⬜⬜⬜🟩🟩 ⬜⬜🟩🟩🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Strange board!
  8. What’s this, Mumsnet?
  9. Rained all day yesterday, raining this morning. This is not a repeat of a previous post, it’s Monday!
  10. I thought Bellingham played well, but he has to link better with Kane, he’s playing like Kane isn’t even there.
  11. We need another goal, and we need to get the ball to Kane’s feet more often.
  12. So here we are again, we have a very decent side. Kane still brilliant, Bellingham is a bit of a conundrum for me. Seen him superb and also anonymous. Better football minds than me rate him very highly so I’ll go with them. Foden is absolutely a match winner, could be the star of the tournament. Rice has won me over. Pickford isn’t the best English keeper ever, but he’s the best we’ve got, I’m not worried about him. So let’s hope for the best tonight. My first tournament was Mexico ‘70 so I know the score by now.
  13. Wordle 1,093 3/6 ⬜⬜🟨⬜⬜ 🟨⬜⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 niiice!
  14. The French genuinely love McDoes as they call it. Especially the yoof and families.
  15. It’s a strange dichotomy that the French are often superficially dismissive and snooty about America and Americans yet are suckers for Americana. Macdonalds, Harley Davidsons etc. They love them!
  16. If, and it’s a big if, that is to be believed. I can only attribute part of it to the relative lack of opportunity to buy snacks in garages etc. In the UK you can buy crisps, drinks etc at a myriad of outlets all day. Here the garages sell petrol/diesel and maybe some oil. You have to take your food with you every day. You can go to a supermarket of course, but that’s a bit more of a commitment than grabbing a handful of sweets when you’re passing a garage.
  17. I don’t know tbh! It was brand new.
  18. Wordle 1,092 4/6 ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ 🟩⬜🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Chance of a three, but would have been lucky. Not unhappy.
  19. Here as well Stubs, rained all day yesterday, raining this morning.
  20. Think you got the decimal point wrong. 12 thousand 5 letter words in English. 4 thousand in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. If that makes sense.
  21. The mess they leave wouldn’t have pleased him either.
  22. Wordle 1,091 5/6 🟨⬜⬜⬜🟩 ⬜🟨⬜🟨🟩 ⬜⬜🟨🟩🟩 🟨⬜🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Nice work Doug!
