  1. Just another hill to die on:)
  2. Heres one, heavily reduced (not by me) more than 10 years ago. Client wanted it re-done, regrowrth was 15/20 foot, some rot in previous cuts but by reducing the load and going back to live gives it another décade minimum (this is an after pic btw)
  3. I have re-reduced birch here that were done 10/15 years ago, sure there were some rot pockets, but we took them back to some live growth just above previous cuts and I guarantee they’ll be good for at least another décade and probably more. I suprised you so readily swallow the mantra that the AA and others spoon feed you, you being such a free thinker and all.
  4. That’s what the thread is about.
  5. The vigne verte at the back of the house goes a really deep red/purple.
  6. Sorry Alex, bored now. Another time maybe.
  7. I’ll be retired, so collecting on that might be problematic.
  8. Wordle 1,574 6/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ 🟨🟩⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩🟨⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜🟩🟩 ⬜🟩⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  9. Should be an excellent day ahead, started a two day job yesterday, thirteen dead or dying spruce at the bottom of a garden A combination of the Avant, the big Schliesing and some teamwork meant we did all 13 yesterday, just a few hours clear up today hopefully. Sliding into the weekend in style!
  10. Au contraire. I am just in favour of a holistic approach, involving important factors including. Species. Health and expected lifespan of tree Context. Targets. Clients desire to retain the tree (important one) Clients age and plans for the future. Clients understanding of the ramifications of a reduction cycle and how it will look afterwards. I’m not a fan of the ‘nice tree, wrong place mate” dogma
  11. Interesting old thread. If anything the big 2 have tightened their stranglehold on the saw market. Despite a lot of the talk from 11 years ago. Only the echo 2511 gets a place on the trucks of pros. Battery saws may well change that though.
  12. Wordle 1,573 4/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟨🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Been getting some terrible starts ( and middles and ends) lately, this was no exception, so a 4 is a result.
  13. I doubt it’s been topped, no rot pocket in the crown break. It’s been overlifted/thinned. It is reduceable if they want to keep it. have to go back to live growth on one of these.
  14. Wordle 1,572 6/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜ ⬜⬜🟨⬜⬜ ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟨⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 phew.
  15. Stealing smartphones in London apparently.
  16. Wordle 1,571 X/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ 🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟨🟨⬜⬜ ⬜🟨🟩⬜🟨 🟨⬜🟩⬜⬜ ⬜🟨🟩⬜🟨 You will struggle to find a worse board than that!
  17. Co codamol is too strong for me, and moré importantly it interfères with my natural functions, which makes preparing for work difficult.
  18. Big moon indeed! Saw boar yesterday morning on the dog walk, then a fox this morning, Igor caught the scent and showed a bit of interest. Knees sore atm, needed ibuprofen to get a good nights sleep. Otherwise all good, finish up a job today, work slow but steady.
  19. I appreciate you quest for truth. But you’re watching them the wrong way round.
  20. Looks foul.
  21. Rope must have been partially cut beforehand, or more likely cut during the work. No way that climbing line would snap lowering anything off that tree.
  22. Who is a lot cheaper! Being cynical of course, as I’m currently training a lad who is less than a third of my age. I hope within a year or so it’ll be quicker for him to do the tricky stuff, he’s already doing well, but it is a gradual process, with mistakes along the way, not all his of course, but ultimately every thing is my responsability.
  23. And what is in it for the expérienced guy?
