  1. Who you talking to Paddy?
  2. They’re called gifs. You use emojis.
  3. Yeah yeah, good things are good and bad things are bad.
  4. Prolly the stuff that’s in the trousers. @Ty Korrigan is more au fait than me about them.
  5. In France they’re very keen on protective sleeves, they might even have legislation to that effect. helps avoid this.
  6. We only hear one side of the story. A photo of the tree in context would help.
  7. John Torode says something racist 8 years ago and is sacked. Crazy world we’re living in.
  8. You can apply for work on a tpo ed tree that’s not yours. It’s no big deal, if you don’t own it you can’t do it.
  9. Any chance of a photo? For context and species etc.
  10. Back in 95, when I did my 10 weeker at Merrist Wood we had to wear all round protection trousers. There were two types, Blue and Green. They were like instruments of torture, especially as it was June/July. As soon as I left and started for a firm that didn’t enforce any PPE (including helmets) I eschewed the trousers and wore jeans. It was only around the turn of the century when I subbed for a firm that insisted that I revisited them and found newer, lighter more comfortable sorts.
  11. 15/20 or so years, initially I was burning it, but that became illegal around 2010. They have done 95% of the stuff that the loader (Avant/Multione/compact tractor) was involved in, ie bigger stuff. The really old stuff was loaded onto the truck by hand so piddling little bits. Doesn’t seem worth doing as on each cycle the grab can’t get enough to keep the chipper busy, but not my circus, not my monkeys etc….
  12. Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be!
  13. Must have posted at the same time. Still true though.
  14. No it’s @oldfeller who should apologise. To me that looks like moss, which is perfectly normal, doesn’t harm the tree and is nothing to worry about.
  15. More letters the easier it gets I would have thought.
  16. In your face uncaring universe!
  17. Last one. Only 4 Lorrys out today. Back Tuesday. IMG_1950.mov
  18. He seems to have done a decent job since getting promoted. He did say that, as King, he would steer clear of controversy, and so far has been as good as his word.
  19. Keeping the other thread clean. Some stuff on my waste wood chipping. Reckons on 6 lorry loads. At my estimate, that’s 540 cubic metres, 300 kg per cube, so 162 tonnes at €20 per tonne. IMG_1946.mov IMG_1945.mov IMG_1944.mov
  20. Who doesn’t heat with wood? On a typical day, when it’s an everything off site job I’ll bring 1 and a half to two tonnes of pine or some rubbish back here. I’ve had 4 tonnes back this week alone. The premium stuff is either given away to friends or neighbours (of me or the client) or put to one side for me to split and store for our use. We are fast approaching the point where I’m splitting wood for whoever buys the house of us in a few years!
  21. Well yeah, but no but yeah. It’s in my field, so no rain welcome. I’m just glad to get rid, since burning became illegal here, the pile has become visible from space.
