  1. In many ways I don’t mind JV. Sometimes I listen and I think ‘how can you be so naive?’ I remember him being astonished that lorry drivers piss in bottles and chuck it out the window. That people can drink as much as a bottle of wine a night. That anyone would drive over a hundred miles an hour just because they wanted to. He is the living embodiment of the metropolitan elite.
  2. Mark and Lard were good. They suffered when they were put on the breakfast slot. Didn’t suit their style.
  3. I only tried the app once, didn’t see the point, but I’m a bit of a stick in the mud. Well done on the changes Steve, smooth transition, looks good.
  4. I’m not getting the jobs I would normally expect to breeze. You’re not alone.
  5. It’s difficult to apply real metrics to quote conversion. I went to look at a job today, few branches off a cherry, bit off a horse chestnut overhanging a neighbour, bit of this, bit of that, awkward drag out of a garden etc. Quoted a price, they shit themselves, far too pricey, fair enough. Some guy with a ladder, Makita and a trailer behind a Kangoo could do it half my price. I’m geared up for bigger work, removals and all that. Question is how many jobs that I’m really in the mix for do I get?
  6. At the moment that tree will have zero impact on your house.
  7. Reversing cameras are the dogs danglies though.
  8. My new truck has so many warning bleeps and stuff, I find myself getting out and it starts going on cos I didn’t put it in park or have the key in my pocket or the door isn’t shut or something and I end up shouting at it ‘what do you want this time?’
  9. Both are good, the shorter version is better though IMO.
  10. I think the trait of not announcing songs as much ‘this is…’ ‘that was…’ is because with digital it’s written on the screen so it’s a bit superfluous to keep saying it.
  11. Yep, I recommend it. Doesn’t get the love and care of the other machines, but never lets me down.
  12. Agreed, this habit of giving radio slots to TV sorts is crap. Rylan, POG and Michael Ball. All gay as a feather duster.
  13. It’s a new feature, the Benny Hill chinaman filter. why you no risten!?
  14. Simon Mayo was a good show. I understood that the whole day on R2 was all white males up to a few years ago. That had to change. Sara Cox is very good IMO, funny, spontaneous and professional. Zoe B is unbearable for me. I guess it was Wrighty or Ken Bruce, KB does a lot of ‘Charridy’ stuff so is less vulnerable.
  15. Sad to hear this. I’ve listened to him since the eighties, I think he’s going to be a big loss. He manages to accompany you for a few hours every day without pissing you off, unlike Zoe Ball who is gushy, false and annoying. Sara Cox is good no doubt, but Scott Mills is borin’ as you like (no g) End of an era.
  16. Finishing off a job with a bit of grinding in the rain. Noble Fir I think, grinds easy anyway.
  17. This is where the Klou really shines, couldn’t possibly transport logs like this with a rotator/knockabout.
  18. Read what he (openspaceman) says. It’s clearly a lapsed hedge. He knows his stuff.
  19. Ha! Was the only bit of roping on the tree, so I told Dave just to go old school and take a wrap round the tree rather than break out the bollards etc. Not really a teeth loosener, but a bit of a ride nevertheless.
  20. Monday’s tomfoolery. Few days at this place. Started with some scabby fir removal. https://www.instagram.com/p/CfUDFA8IPVt/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  21. Ha ha! I had one of those, good wagons no doubt. My new Ranger is 213hp, 10 speed auto, goes like stink and pulls a trailer and 2 tonne plus machine easy. Keep your old Mazda
  22. What is the purpose of what you’re doing there?
  23. He got to the tree at nearly 4 o’clock, so had made a few quid already.
