    Booze

I took delivery of another 48 cans of Punk IPA from Brewdog last week. Not opened it yet mind, saving it for the bank holiday weekend!
  2. I worried that it was such a good deal, they would realise what they’ve done and quickly retract the offer! So, I applied on Sunday night, at 10.30pm. Took 10 mins, and had money in my bank yesterday. I bank with Barclays.

  4. Sounds like a typical Monday morning or Friday afternoon situation! I’ve only tipped my Logbullet once, and that was late on in the day. Parking it up for the night, pissing down and dark, forgot to put leg down and swung crane right out. Over she went! I’ll only do it once! (Hopefully!)
  5. “Sharp elbowed Annabel” ???

    Saw upgrade

    A 372 for £200?! ???
  7. John just fucks climbers off and buys a Merlo to do the job! ?
  8. Excellent. That’s the kind of info I was after mate! ?? if I can get a wee one like that, 40-50hp, and get a good winch and maybe a small pto chipper then I’ll be laughing.
  9. Just wondered if anyone has any experience (good or bad) of importing equipment into the UK? As I have time on my hands, I'm busy perusing the world wide web and keep finding myself tumbling down alpine tractor rabbit holes..... So I've been chatting to a few people, and trying to find an additional piece of kit to compliment the Logbullet and my overall low impact approach. An alpine tractor with winch and potential for other attachments is top of the list. There isn't a great deal for sale in the UK but further afield there is much on offer. Any particular things to be looking for? Good brands? Bad brands? Anyone imported anything themselves? I have arranged the delivery of the Logbullet myself, but any personal experience of alpines would be appreciated. Fire away folks. Budget is 10-15k realistically, that's to buy machine and get it here.
  10. Ultimately it doesn’t matter too much what you went for in the end, just having some will change how you work permanently! Enjoy Bill!
  11. If you set the volume correctly, it isn’t a problem (not for me anyway). If someone has a saw in their hands whilst they’re using it, and they’re on comms it can be a bit loud. But the easy answer is just to tell them to stop cutting briefly. If someone is using one in the background it’s fine for example. Sometimes it someone is stood right next to a chipper it can come across loud, but they have to have their head in the hopper practically. I can honestly say the minor negative points that do crop up pale into comparison against the positives. Like anything, it’s not 100% perfect, but my god is it an upgrade from not having any.
  12. It depends if you want to climb, or be a ground based worker. I got into tree surgery at 30, with zero experience. I worked dragging brash and soaked up as much info as I could from the lads I worked with. I got my basic felling tickets and they did me for years. I personally found learning on the job to be the best way, I got a lot more from it than any course I've been on for the most part. Fast forward 8/9 years and I now have my own niche forestry business and I'm happy to say I enjoy my work which is a rare thing for most people I reckon. You definitely sound like a grafter, so I'd say go for it.
  13. just some daft videos of work lately. Wish I could go at this pace in reality!
  14. Oh and if it’s any consolation, I’m all done on the track now, so I’m back to cutting first thinnings. It’s fair to say after a good few months of machine work, I’m definitely feeling the effects of swinging the saw around d all day!
  15. That does look steep mate, good effort. The little machines capabilities never get old!
  16. Motorcycle Helmets, Clothing, Jackets, Gloves, Boots & Accessories WWW.SPORTSBIKESHOP.CO.UK SPORTSBIKESHOP is the UK's number one online retailer of motorcycle helmets, clothing, parts & accessories. We...
  17. Another thumbs up for the Sena comes from me. Gray Git introduced me too them, and I have a cradle set on my peltor ear defenders and one in my Husky helmet. I just chop and change the actual unit between the two depending on what I’m doing (ear defenders for machine work, helmet for cutting) ive never had any problems with snagging wires etc whilst doing thinning work, but can’t comment in what they are like whilst you’re climbing as I don’t do any. As Matty said dropping the unit is annoying, but the blue flashy light can help locate them! The cheapest place to get them from is a website called Sportsbikeshop.co.uk. For me these were an absolute game changer. Makes working unmeasurably safer, and rigging etc so much easier. Plus you can also talk whilst chipper and saws are flying. Plus the climber can give his order for brews easier. Plus you can all perv on nice ladies together. Winner!
  18. I totally agree. And best bit is John has managed to keep his cool in some seriously testing situations, and see the project out to where he is now. He could have easily thrown the towel in, but has marched on and is now reaping the rewards. Bravo to that man! ??
  19. Beast mode mate! Fair play to you, one eye on the future, another on your waist line ???
  20. I’ve only used the pto one @Gray git has on the back of his tractor/chip trailer set up, but I was very impressed. They don’t have the nickname of Shitslinger for nothing! ?
  21. The plan is to buy in bulk as it is cheaper, so yeah at least 500l at a time. Anyway, my problem may well be solved! A mate has something that will likely do the job. The next job will be getting it to the yard, then making a secure enclosure for it to stop the tea leaves having it all away!
  22. Morning mate. I’m after one to keep at the yard, rather than a more portable one. That way I can buy in bulk, and save money, time and hassle. Then I’ll keep using my two 20l jerry cans to take fuel to site ??
  23. Bugger!
  24. Interesting info chaps! I had possibly got my blinkers on regards steel, as just figured it was the most robust. This looks decent for the price, and is brand new so has guarantee etc. https://www.totaltanks.co.uk/tanks/deso-v1340cdd-bunded-diesel-fuel-dispensing-tank/
  25. Ps I should add I am only considering bunded steel tanks too.
