  1. Happy too get old, but I refuse to grow up. Never trust a fart and never waste a hard-on. (Jack Nicholson)
  2. Cheers chaps. Yes it is a 1489. Looks like I will get the US ones then.
  3. I found yellow snow once, which made an unusual cup of tea
  4. I do mine sort of like that. I am splitting next years now. I have a floor of pallets and line the walls with pallets to allow a little more airflow. When the pile gets about 3 feet deep, I lay more pallets on top and then repeat throwing the split logs on. It's not as ideal as vented nets or pallet boxes, or even stacked billets, but it seems to work ok for me.
  5. You need to clear your messages (again)
  6. She's not as tubby as the photo makes her. Her back end suffered from muscle wastage from being in kennels and the pound, which makes the rest of her look a little out of proportion.
  7. I do get up your way, well, Norfolk, from time to time. Not sure about the murder bit though!!!!
  8. Greyhound asleep as usual, staffie slow cooking and cat having a snooze.
  9. Turning snow into a girl qualifies me as a wizard doesn't it??
  10. My splitter. Rear axle raises and lowers, nice big work table and powered by 13hp honda.
  11. Absolutely chucking it down and has been since about 10.30 this morning. Been in the barn splitting a few, took two reluctant dogs out and now in front of the wood burner
  12. Not suggesting you do this obviously, because it probably isn't safe and obviously I haven't done it but TCT table saw blades are very effective at clearing smaller saplings.
  13. I like the way you are hoping to make "progress"!!
  14. What is the hot start mod, just out of interest. My 2 year old saw starts fine hot, but would be nice to know.
  15. They will be out in leaf soon, so get yourself a good ID book and get used to what the leafs' look like and also the bark patterns and textures.
  16. A couple of the whole round logs in the back of the picture look like ash.
  17. Where can you get them for that price?
  18. We are getting issued those at work now, seem hard wearing and people can't wear out their old trousers quick enough to get a pair.
  19. Can't make out the power cable in the picture, but will you need the relevant authorisation to be working near it?
  20. We call it milling up. Don't have to go overboard with it. A nice little brash pile with the saw run through it to make it sit flat is far easier to convince people that it's a habitat pile. Down side is it always sounds like chainsaw abuse and always make double sure that's what the people want. If you have ever had to go back and chip a 6 month old mill pile, you will know what I mean
  21. Did 7 winters on the rhodies, about 35 acres of the stuff. Stihl 023 was my weapon of choice, lovely little saw for the job.
  22. I know it's hard to gauge from a video as opposed to using the saw, but it looks like the 357 has lost some of its torque from being tuned, whilst the 560 still looks strong???
  23. I've just read 8 pages of this drivel and I still don't know what a PM is
