Mull29 I couldn't tell you what Scotland owes. We know how much Scotland would be short "in income terms" but thats not the same thing as anyone's share of the national debt. breffni, there's been a bit of an oil crisis and an almost halving of the price in the last few months or so..

gnfencer, thats democracy for you, the Scots have spoken. I'm not sure I agree with your assertion that your politicians have had to leave the room when decisions were made, on the contrary the Scots were allowed to vote on entirely English matters, ie the MidLothian question. It will be interesting to see if the SNP can do more with their 56 Mps, than Labour with their 232!

She'll be right mate! I spent a year in Christchurch, and saw several Canterbury matches at Lancaster Park. Though the cantabs usually beat the Southlanders, there was a good camaderie between the 2 teams!

Not sure if that was aimed at me, but connecting it up to the loos, (we've got 4) would be a lot of work, and I really can't be asked! The toilet ball cock arrangements are very sensitive to crud in the water and the task of filtering and routing the pipes didn't seem worth it. But if anyone wants to do it, fair play to you! I installed a 3200lt tank a couple of years ago. It's linked up to the garage guttering, and raised up on a stollege to increase the head. Works fine for the garden!

I just think the latest proposals about allowing people to give houses worth up to a million pounds to their children tax-free is bordering on the obscene with the way things are at the moment with Public Sector workers pay rises limited to 1% etc. TBH most people in that situation can get round the inheritance tax issue quite legally,so why have the Tories shot themselves in the foot?

It's also true to say a lot of chaps have invested in business only to see it fail ...you need to take a few risks.. but should be rewarded for that.
