  1. Just get a new bar and get on with it, what do they cost twenty quid?
  2. Are you paying a mechanic to undo 1 sump nut and replace two filters? Do it yourself. Couldn't be easier.
  3. Poison straight after felling, I've only ever done the main stem. Glyphosate always works for me. Drill holes and apply. Cover the stump for a few weeks in case of rain, pets etc. Ecoplugs, as I understand it are glyphosate in slow release form, sounds like a good idea.
  4. You sort of answered your own question. An avant or similar, turf tyres not tracks.
  5. I think he's pulling some legs here.
  6. Odd, they never usually last that long before breaking, You might try cleaning the shoot a bit, then get TW to send a pic of some new fans and compare sizes.
  7. Pile it up, try not to think about it, hope it goes away.
  8. Knives ok? Revving ok? Did it happen all of a sudden or gradually?
  9. Very disappointing! The first day with a new machine should be one of the happiest and memorable days work you have. Hope it improves!
  10. Agreed, buy it then charge him to cut the paddock. Otherwise they'll be a row somewhere along the line.
  11. So to be clear, there are 250 AA approved contractors in the UK, or am I reading that wrong?
  12. When the chain pops out it should not mean the end of the chain. If the drive links are burred and won't go in the guide bar run the chain loose for ten seconds, this will rub off the burrs, then tighten as normal. Love my 540, no real probs as yet after 3 months.
  13. Like the man said, go for it, they'll come back no bother.
  14. Ha ha, sounds like a plan.
  15. Just opinion, don't get huffy, it's only the internet.
  16. We've all done it! Full marks for your honesty.
  17. It's a doddle if you're an engineer! Seriously if you're not pretty good at that stuff, pay someone. A chipper is too important to have down time cos you fancied a play.
  18. 560 sensational saw, aspen too pricey. Errrr that's it.
  19. Fair enough. Just don't cut your own throat. As an aside that is begging to be zip lined.
  20. Course, it's only an exercise. It just seems that at that price you're gambling too much that it gets done in a day. If it runs into the next morning there'll be tears! Technically it's not tough, it's all about logistics.
  21. Dragging wood and branches through a garage and utility room. You'll catch a heavy cold at that price.
  22. Between a grand and a 1500, two full days for 3 blokes. Err towards 1500.
  23. Good luck, it's doable.
  24. I used to make my own using two bowlins then taped the tails with insulation tape. I prefer a Blake's anyway.
