  1. Thanks, seriously though, looks like a Pop, what TO would allow a topped Pop that close to an area of high footfall like that? They rot out like old potatoes.
  2. Thanks, still no details though, ie species, pictures, time since last cutting. Plus there is a world of difference between a tree in a garden and one under which people are standing almost constantly. See if you can google up a bit more detail.
  3. Where's the link and photos, then I'll pass opinion. "Pal"
  4. I was quoting your ridiculous hyperbole.
  5. I suppose it was coined to make us sound more like a "professional" Meaning in the lawyer, doctor, solicitor sense.
  6. Were not surgeons, we trim and fell trees. "I predict this will cause injury, damage or death" Lol
  7. Crikey! If my boss came out with corporate speak like that I think I'd walk off site.
  8. I always answer the phone withheld or not. It's the optimist in me. If it's a sales call, it's a no thanks and hang up.
  9. Looks like a piece of cast iron, pretty tough stuff.
  10. Gotta confess, that gave me a laugh.
  11. Every morning I wake up at 3 or 4 o'clock. Then I lie there for a hour and think about the days work ahead. Then fall asleep again till 6.30. Been like that for over 20 years.
  12. Stress is good, embrace it. Worrying about stuff is your job.
  13. Won't go far wrong with a transit.
  14. Ha ha! There is an art to it, first twist it so both wheels are free then one on the front lifting the jockey and pulling then the guy on the back pushes, whatever happens don't stop. Not having to drag brush is a powerful incentive as well!
  15. Do you think when manufactures do a throughput test they use previous topped conny or straight 6" dia easy feed timber?
  16. Anybody who's been in this game for a while knows that throughput figures are if not irrelevant then not that crucial. If your job is chipping coppiced sweet chestnut all day your not going to use this machine. It's more about how it copes with difficult stuff, retopped conny, thorns, firs with big cones etc.
  17. 'Twas ever thus, annoying, but you'll never get someone perfect on the sort of money self employed groundies get.
  18. Be alright this time next year.
  19. My left arm btw. Done 15 years ago.
  20. You're like me, learn everything the hard way. The hand will be ok. Anyway chicks dig scars
  21. Had mine 10 years now. Bits fall off true, but basically it's still all there. Don't get me wrong I've owned and used bigger and better chippers. Notably a scheisling 220. 2 blokes can push a TW over a level lawn into position, that can be a big plus. But you're right, compromises have to be made. Even now it's productivity amazes me.
  22. It's astonishing what these sub 750 kg chippers can do. In the end when you look back on a job like a dismantle ask yourself "What was the weak point in that job? Where could we have been more efficient?" Ime it's usually the loading of the cordwood, not the chipping of the brash. A TW Jensen or green mech can keep up with a climbing dismantle, you don't get a queue at the machine. So these smaller machines make a lot of sense for a lot of us.
  23. That's a baddun, no doubt about it, I've done it (not as deep as that mind) Back to work ASAP.
  24. Didn't you have a bad fall a year or so back, bugger up your feet or summat?
  25. Honestly I do wonder at what goes on in people's heads sometimes. "If I wanted to do it for a lower price I would have offered a lower price in the first place" Muppetry pure and simple.
