  1. If you can't do it, don't do it. Sounds like you can't. Lowering off your own line, naughty but most people I've worked with will do it oftimes. Old climbing line is fine for lowering within reason. If you are subbing for this guy its up to you to have the gear, you should have some kind of lowering line in your kitbag. As others have said cars underneath causes new problems. Aerial rescue? Would be nice but in practice........
  2. Why not use football shin guards?
  3. Yes agree, pretty much all year round. Hard frost could cause browning off (or not) best avoid just in case.
  4. Very funny, what's wrong with cremation then sprinkle the ashes where you like?
  5. Examining the photos they do not seem to be the same leaf. The second one is birch for sure. But the veins on the first are different, plus the leaf is paler. Poplar of some description?
  6. If I recall the underside of the leaf will tell you if its silver or white/downy birch.
  7. I've used bf Goodrich ATs on navara and hilux. Long lasting and decent grip
  8. Certainly looks like birch.
  9. "You're" "cane" just as long as it's not English
  10. Are you having a laugh? Teaching must be a nightmare compared to mucking about with trees.
  11. I'm pretty sure Gray Git is on a pretty good whack, with a fraction of the hassle of a head teacher. In other words thats a lame argument.
  12. I looked at it and thought a grand, 750/800 seems fair
  13. Ha ha. Fwiw that gave me a laugh.
  14. Oh yes I'm in. Keep going cos I can't do anything else Great thing is about this age is you genuinely do not give a monkeys toss what others think. What a relief!
  15. Tricky, I can see both sides. Force the issue or find another employer who will guarantee you some teaching. 24 is still young, but I understand your impatience
  16. Always good for business when something like this happens!
  17. I was referring to the manual thing, but yeah, take your point. Probably rotted diaphragms. If it were me, I'd take it to a good garden machinery place, Rather than poke around hopefully. You should be able to hear the fuel pump when the ignition is on.
  18. Contact Westcon in Dorset. Rayco dealers.
  19. How much is the compact tractor earning? Depends if it's splitting wood, loading chip, mowing grass, auguring post holes carting wood around or the hundreds of other applications I suppose.
  20. I've had two tracked chippers. Too heavy, unless you have a specific contract I'd steer clear. Road tow and a compact tractor/quad for off road. Far more versatile IMO
  21. 12 years on a TW 150 never replaced the rollers, replaced the springs 4 years ago.
  22. Tractor tyres?
  23. I've done it, it's not really the weight of the power unit, but the bar, a big long bar is a pig to start the cut. As others have said once it's in the cut it's no different to any other saw.
  24. Probably more because big trees were a pita to fell in the old days.
  25. Doesn't matter how badly some employers (are perceived to) treat their workers, they will always get new people because of the thousands of people coming out of college every 10 weeks, desperate for experience. I know, I was one 20 years ago.
