  1. Wishing you a swift and successful recovery.
  2. It's ok. He's done a risk assessment:001_huh:
  3. Maybe...................before we find the poor Mr Plod guilty................it would be interesting to get his side of the story. It would either confirm that he is an anal ****, or maybe the cyclist's parent had his head up his ass and was allowing his kid to do something stupid. Just a thought??? It all sounds like the press (and the parent) making a big issue out something which was probably trivial.........
  4. If I had an unlimited choice I'd probably screw it up:blushing:
  5. Find another dealer.......................
  6. So at what age is it not acceptable to ride on a pavement?
  7. It's the same in all industries. It is only the minority who are passionate about what they do. The rest are in it for .................... Now where do I fit in :confused1: Tree LC - keep up the good work because the "rewards" for training up someone who is keen eager and goes on to be a "success" are worth it!
  8. Hope that you've recovered / recovering well. A suggestion: Before you start winding up your employer, find out his view on the matter. It may be something that can be sorted by working together rather than getting involved in a long drawn out legal battle. Also, find out what paperwork your employer has produced; RIDDOR, etc. Also, what paperwork has been produced post-incident - Wouldn't be the first time that RAs have been written after event.
  9. Out of interest, does one need to inform one's insurance company? If so, is there an impact on the premium?
  10. And in France you don't appear to have the equivalent of the HSE? Good? Or, bad? Be interesting to get the view of a French based 'artisan'.
  11. There are enough "cowboys" in the profession with quals that makes this whole discussion pointless. Sorry...........................
  12. These are the ones..............Mapa Professional Ultrane 553. I've only ever seen them in commercial fisherman's supply shops / ship chandlers in France. Just bought 12 pairs €2.20 each on a recent trip. Can't find a supplier in the UK at that price. Handling protection : Ultrane 553 - Precision work - MAPA Professionnel
  13. Fisherman's gloves from Comptoir de la Mer (in France). Thin, hard wearing with good grip. Only €2.20 per pair. Worth a try.
  14. Have thought of one.......but use an old electric fan when I need to. Too tight to fork out for a fancy piece of twisted metal:001_tongue:
  15. Some points to note: Reliability - our Asian friends have cornered the market in the manufacture of panels / key components. Some commercial farms have suffered recently. So check warranty etc. of the hardware. Roof - If retrofitting to your house roof, make sure the fitter knows what he is doing. Alot of the fitters are just a bunch of cowboys who know that Joe Blogs will never be able to inspect their workmanship. Pointless having a system installed that may save you a few grand in a ten year period, but won't last ten years, or results in roof degradation which requires major works costing tens of thousands. Yours sincerely Mr Glass Half-Empty
  16. Totally agree. It's all about "mentoring". But, there are some individuals on this planet who are beyond help.................. Not sure which category applies here:confused1:
  17. The OP hasn't stated if there was a RA performed at the time. If not, why not? Or, was that another company policy......................
  18. If you don't know them that well, and they are rarely around...........Now consider dropping her a note to confirm the verbal agreement. That ways it's written down when one forgets the exact discussion in a few weeks. And sometimes it's worth offering to clean up her side (trim etc.) and build up some good will in the bank.
  19. If you can't afford the full kit, then get some lengths of rope (different diameters) to learn and practice knots.
  20. Or go see an oestoepath who may be able to pinpoint the source of the pain, and also advise on stretching exercises for before and after. Solved my problems with pain due to ligaments in my right knee.
  21. They've be using Google Earth as their initial reccie for some time................ Maybe get your own whirrly-bird armed with mini-missiles??
