  1. Skyhuck, Totally agree with you. Have had some recent potential customers get back to me and tell me how much my quote was beaten by, in some cases I can't see how they can make anything out of the jobs they do so cheaply... And these crews are qualified with chippers etc... Not just cowboys. I know some guys are really quick and skilful able to turn jobs round quickly but I would have thought anyone that quick would expect to be on a decent rate not squeezing the life out of every quote. Thanks, Timon .
  2. Just walked away from 2 x 60ft conifers where someone had gone round the stems with a circular saw about 4 years ago... Not in the best of health to say the least.. Didn't think it was worth the risk and the owner didn't want to pay much..
  3. Hi Steve , Here's some pics.... I'm away after next week so if you want to sort the pallet out this week that will be cool.. Otherwise I'll be back mid September . I've got pallets and shrink wrap etc and I think I've got some pva. I'll PM you my number.. Timon
  4. Will sort through it and send you some pics of what is there... Thanks
  5. Hi Steve, The main trunk of the tree where I felled it near the base had some rot through it. Some of the stems had rot but there is a fair bit of 4" - 10" diameter stuff that seems good. Didn't get a chance to go through it all thoroughly cos of time.. I did take a couple of photos on my phone... Below.. I could try ringing up the trunk a bit to see how far the rot goes. There is certainly a pallet full of good stuff anyway. Thanks Timon
  6. Hi Steve . Cracking set up there mate.. Envious of your crane and trailer!! Timon
  7. A prussic (or the thimble borrowed of the lanyard) holding the pinto on the main line above the HC with the trailing part of the rope sent back up and over the pinto creating mechanical advantage. Hope I've explained correctly Thanks Timon
  8. Yeah it is. I like the extra bits on it so it can be reversed or used as second anchor etc... Only had one small climb on it . Just ordered a pinto to put above my HC to create some mechanical advantage.... I'm 49 tomorrow and would like to lose a stone in weight I'm hoping that this won't over complicate my system.. Thanks Timon
  9. Thanks! I bought it after seeing if on you tube Just wondered if anyone had any feedback? Nice one..,. Timon
  10. Quick answer: YES. We had all our kit LOLER'ed on Monday and were in a similar situation. Kit that we'd inherited etc... The inspector will assess every bit of kit and either pass it or fail it . Thanks Timon
  11. Just bought one of these and a pulley to use above my hitch climber. I like the idea of mechanical advantage and I'm keen to give it a shot... Does anyone use this set up and have any advice/tips ? Switched to HC a while ago and really like it. Currently using it with an eyetie hitch.

    the demon booze

I gave up everything (except caffeine) 8 years ago. I had lots of habits going booze being one of them.... I can honestly say that my life is a thousand times better now. One of the most daunting things about giving up any substance is the thought that we won't be able to find enjoyment in life anymore without it.... It's a lie!! As well as co-running a tree business I also help run a centre for recovering alcoholics and addicts.... Please PM me if you need help or just want a chat. Timon

    Unimog tyres?

Thanks, yeah we run over 30mph too often to run underrated tyres. Besides I don't think they would last too well. Buying cheap is often a false economy...... Nice Mog.

    Unimog tyres?

Thanks for this... Will definitely check out the MOD. Never even thought of them. Thanks Timon

    Unimog tyres?

I think AV charge about a grand each for michelins can't afford the initial outlay for those..... Sadly, 'cos I know they will work out cheapest in the long run. Guess I'll have to go mid range. Thanks for your help guys, I'll admit I have been tempted by cheap AG ones with 30mph rating but I know better than that.. Cutting corners never prospers in the long run ....

    Unimog tyres?

Can anyone tell me the best place to get new tyres for our mog ? Any advice on what kind are the best and any to avoid.. Thanks
  21. Hope all goes well with your chipper, mate. We've got a similar set up (green mech 220 pto ) 1250 mog. We're chuffed to bits with it. It copes with everything we throw at it and is quick.
  22. I've had Stihl hi-flex, sip freedoms and sip progress.... I'd never get hi-flex again....I didn't find them very durable. Sip freedoms were great and very hard wearing . Sip progress even better... durable and comfy. Sip progress get my vote.
  23. Ok.. I'll pm you when we've got it back to our place, send you some photos etc.. Thanks
