  1. Or maybe 2x cubic meters even.....
  2. Do you find that you can fill the whole box?or at least improve capacity? I think we probably lose about a cubic meter in volume with the air flow blowing the chip back out.... Thanks, Ti
  3. Yeah he is although he's not been too well of late. Knee replacements etc.. Went to watch him with full band at the cinnamon club in May ... He's still got it and the band were really excellent. He'll be chuffed he's got a mention on arb talk! Thanks, Timon
  4. The air flow out of the chipper discharge chute into the box pushes the chips back out of the box once I reach about 3/4 full. If I fitted mesh panels in the roof would that let the air flow "through' rather than back out?? Has anyone ever experimented with something like this on their chip box?? Thanks, Ti
  5. He's my uncle! My mum's older brother.. Seriously small world...... Was it you who dropped the poplar at his house in droylesden? I used to play drums in his band when I was young.., Never thought I'd see him mentioned on this forum! Thanks, Ti
  6. Thanks Tim , Won't get caught like this again Sap/resin is two days old now so hope it comes out! Really enjoyed the tree. Was 60-70ft tall.. Like I said biggest yet. Single bare stem up to about 35ft then curved into two stems straight up. Thanks mate, Ti
  7. Thanks Joe, Looks like it's going to be a couple of cycles then.... It was hard work today (pine was yesterday). Dismantled a small sycamore bout 30ft took ages.... Ended up using a new prussic loop on 4 wraps just to get by... Took about 15 mins before it was solid. Friction savers and inner tubes on the shopping list!! Thanks !
  8. Hi all, Just dismantled a large pine tree (biggest tree we've done to date ) Half way through the day all of my ropes, eye to eyes. Prussics etc... Became solid like they were glued together.. Put my trousers through the washer at 30c and all of the sap is still there Any tips on how to clean my ropes etc...?? Much appreciated!! Thanks, Ti.
  9. Our mog 1250AG. And chipper. 9 inc chipper fills the box in no time. (Only just sussed out how to upload photos!!) Thanks, Ti
  10. Hi Steve , Hope you are well. We're now up and running with our mog and 9" green mech pto.. Fills the chip box on the mog very quickly so working towards a bigger bespoke chip box. Also running an LDV with timber wolf 150. We operate as two separate teams and combine on the larger jobs. (Will post some pics soon) We're working towards becoming arb assoc. approved contractors but it's going to be a journey (more training etc..) Love your set up.... The crane looks very practical. Hope the charity your setting up is going well. All the best mate, Timon
  11. Thanks Joe I'll give this a try next time I go shopping I've used eye2eyes to try and keep it simple. Ti
  12. I tried an extra braid but found it really distorted my main line (using 13mm marlin gecko) If I could get it to perform like the one on my side strop I'd be well chuffed. Perhaps I just need to keep playing about with it and changing the sides it's clipped to the HC. I've got some longer eye to eyes as well (80mm) I'll try those and see.. Can anyone tell me if this is normal to experience niggles with setting up a new system. ???????? Does anyone else have similar experiences???
  13. Thanks guys I'll give it a whirl and let you know how it goes... Makes sense cos the VT on my side strop works a treat!
  14. Tried a VT on my hitch climber yesterday... 3 wraps & 2 braids. 65mm ocean polyester eye to eye. Found it didn't grip too well.... Put 4 wraps in and it was too tight.... Haven't been climbing very long but quickly gaining confidence. I am convinced HC is the way forward but haven't found the right hitch yet... Any thoughts or advice would be well appreciated.
  15. Must admit I have been tempted to run it on cherry and plead ignorance....if........we got dipped. But decided some time ago that I wanted to live in the light and run the business that way as well. Done enough shady stuff in the past and never prospered through it. 16. We've tried loads of different kinds (and spent hundreds £££££) we always end up back at the gomtaro 300mm and the bigger natananko 330mm. (The natananko has a self clip design so it doesn't get pulled out of its scabbard by all the messy brown twigs & sticks inside the conifers) I would recommend using it with a saw-pod so you can strap it to the side of your lower leg..... Works a treat. Buxtons are pretty good on price. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. Don't like curved blades for horizontal cuts..... Awkward Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Natananko 330mm, New one will fly through conifers without being cumbersome Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. Paul B assessed me on my 38. Throwing sticks for the dogs was an important component of the assessment!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. We send all our guys to Ian Morgan.. He and Martin Spooner are excellent. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. Ouch! I've been stopped by the old ministry of transport then by vosa. in 7&1/2 trucks before. Vosa were much tighter. I've heard that the new agency are contracted and have targets so are stricter again. One of the reasons we got the mog was that we were always over weight in our transit and LDV. We didn't want the hassle of a 7,1/2.... Putting people through their (new) licences then have them leave plus all the hassle of tachometers etc... Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. Thanks for this advice Bob, I'll go and get it in writing and keep it in the cab. Thanks, Timon Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Looks like a handy set up with the chipper on the front.... Does the discharge lose velocity having an extension pipe feeding over the cab? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Don't know how we could fit the drawbar under the chipper . It sits quite low down even with linkage raised.... Also feeding the chipper would be awkward with the feed hopper pointing back towards the drawbar. (No turntable). Must admit the idea of a decent trailer is appealing Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Thanks for this.... Chip trailer in the future sounds like an interesting prospect. We'd have to fit the chipper to the front pto.. Legal on motorways is great news, we're surrounded by them where we are. Nice one guys, enjoy the arb show if your going!! (Couldn't make it this year due to work commitments ) Definitely going next year..... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
