  1. Hi mate, We've had ours for 2 years (same model) and were advised to run on white even though it's registered AG. We did get pulled and dipped, as soon as they saw we were on white they were gone with no further questions. I did hear of an Arb firm getting theirs impounded for running on red. Personally I don't think it's worth the risk. All the best with it Timon
  2. Oops... I was going to say welcome the family. But my phone screen is wet. 👍
  3. Welcome to the (❤️👌🏾
  4. Was it something to do with a lack in suitable cast members for the nativity ???
  5. I have to admit I'm unable to keep up! I like the fact that I'm building a reference library courtesy of someone else's hard work and research. So your labours are appreciated even though I don't have the time to read as quickly as you post. Thanks Timon
  6. Zillon is ace! Doubles as a secondary mini climbing system if you use it on the longer sizes available, but is still very effective when right up close to the stem. No levers to knock while you are working which is why I was put off the SJ in the first place.
  7. Was that a Hadron colidascope by any chance?
  8. Yeah, you know... Harness.
  9. Nice, Mark. Doesn't it have a tendency to get caught up in conifers? It's looks rather on the large side to hang off your harness.
  10. There have been reported sightings of pine martens near where I live in Warwickshire. Fabulous animal.
  11. Wish I was out today. Still rough so I'm going to do some LOLER checks on kit today indoors mate.
  12. Thanks Jon. Looking forward to some dry weather mate. Got lots on.
  13. I always wanted to climb but cos of some very bad life choices I didn't get round to it until I had the opportunity later in life. (48) A mate had his tickets and I used to work with him a bit and look at his knots and systems and thought "I'll never be able to get my head round these". Now I have been climbing a couple of years I have got quite good at knots. Took my rigging course and passed my Loler examiners course. Start simple. Steve Bullman's knot app is very useful. Get familiar with a some simple knots like a bowline and the different prussicks. Take a couple of bits of old rope home and practice. Don't be discouraged, you'll soon pick it up. If I can do it there's hope for anyone.
  14. At home in bed with flu-ish stuff going on today. Got completely soaked and freezing the other day and had to come away from a big connie removal for the second time. I find that medium sized open canopy stuff is do-able in the wind with a bit of rigging. It's the really tall whippy stuff I don't like.
  15. I've tried both on my 540. The saw is a bit livelier with a 12" but I find that the 14" balances it well. On dismantles it means that you can go a bit further before you get the bigger saws sent up. On reductions and thinning work I often think that I should have kept the 12" on.
  16. It's probably one of the most useful questions we can ask ourselves.... "What would I do if I DIDN'T win the lottery?" Apparently they took it quite well. At least they would have a payday from the tabloids for the story.
  17. I got one of these... Edelrid rocker . Its hard/impossible to get the spliced eye through the small ring and it doesn't look very solid. I gave up on mine.
  18. I just bought the new Marlow venom 11.8mm to use with my ZigZig. I find it quite springy especially with a high anchor point... I'm beginning to get used to the bounce and it tends really nicely.

  25. John Crowder 😀. (Happy new year bro!)
