  1. round here for a general purpose shed its £2 to£3/ square foot. so if your shed is around 900 square foot then between £1800 and £2700 per year, depending on location/ security/ concrete floor/ access etc. only a rough guide that john
  2. I've made most of mine out of dry stuff, but if it was green you could just cut your slots and then put it in the house for a day or two. She'd burn then.
  3. we lesser mortals are not so worthy as to gather the sawdust from under your bench.
  4. it was, but I think I tried doug fir as well but with similar results.
  5. Have you tried softwood before? When I made a softwood one it just smoked and smouldered. Made plenty out of ash and they work a treat.
  6. Really quick, simple to use and not that physically demanding if you're set up well. We billet everything over 4" which I know is double handling compared to an all in one processor but with this system you can turn pretty much anything into saleable logs.
  7. that is the same as my ryetec bench although I've got a 4m conveyor on it. bought it from mark Harrison at ryetec, good to deal with.
  8. no pics I'm afraid john but I put the welding mask on, we had about 90% of the sun covered up here in the mother land
  9. Before you go spending your money on expensive stuff with moss in the title try formaldehyde solution. Get it from any agricultural supplies store, it's used to treat foot rot in sheep.Dilute it about 10 to 1 and pour it on with a watering can, it'll die quite quickly in dry weather then just brush the moss off.
  10. Yeah 3rd service. My telehandler has a rocker switch that gives a constant flow. I bought a big vertical splitter after I made the one pictured so I'm going to alter that one into a kindling machine but I can't find anywhere I can buy a fixed grid type knife to push the wood through
  11. Sounds fair to me although you could modify it so it sounds better. i.e "in the event of non-payment timber up to the value of the contract transfers into the ownership of the cutter". Otherwise the landowner might think you're being greedy.
  12. deader than a dead thing. it was looking promising in the run up to Christmas but all the repeat orders have been for small amounts as everyone thinks spring is here. I've put a brave face on it but I've only sold 70% of my target and that was what I hoped was an achievable one. in order to get some cashflow going I've started selling wholesale to a merchant for a substantial discount. thank goodness its not my main line of work. I hope you boys who only do logs have done ok.
  13. Do you know what, not that many. Which leaves it free for me to use! I love it but for the location not the accommodation, its on top of the cliffs near the lighthouse. I prefer it in winter when its wild, you go out for a blustery walk and get back inside to an open fire and a bottle of wold top.......champion.
  14. If you have a particular attraction to the architectural merit of 1960's bungalows and a penchant for interior design that was considered tasteless in the 80's, then my mother's low rise maisonette on the Yorks coast is for you. Its at Flamborough Head near Bridlington, which could be too far north for you but if not I can send you some more details.
  15. A, B and C, but I've priced it so that my mixed logs are the most attractive.
  16. Been doing it for the last 2/3 years, so its too early to tell how much longer the stakes last. I haven't measured it but 50/ 50 won't be too far off. An old kid told me that if you can heat it, it will penetrate much further. But I think pointing a space heater at the 45 gallon drum I'm using will be something of a fire risk.
  17. same here. I've started buying my posts a year I advance, letting them dry out then soaking them in a heady mix of creosote and waste oil. I've found that if the posts are really dry then they can soak up nearly a litre of potion.
  18. That sort of terrifying image could scare the snow away!
  19. Wordsmith and fashionista are there no limits to your talents tvi?
  20. I got some mag signs done recently by our local chap for my pick up. He colour matched them to the truck. They are about 1m long and 125mm high for 2 doors and the tailgate he charged me £15 ea plus vat. Top job, however that truck promptly died and the replacement is a different colour, never mind eh.
  21. I've got a heap of processor sized stuff in 3 m lengths but I think its spoken for. Unless he gives backword all I can supply is either 3' to 4' billets or logs. I will however email a chap who may be able to help. will let you know by pm if I have any joy.
  22. have you emptied the water trap? I borrowed a neighbours rotovator that behaved like that for a set off, emptied the water out and it dragged me round the garden all afternoon
