Well I have had the grinder a What salad and a stella!! Where's the meat??week now and its brilliant. I have done 2 x 24" stumps with it and 20 x 6"-10" conifer stumps. It's been so easy to use and is very quick. It blows away the Carlton sp2010 I used to have as the turntable makes it so easy to use.

Dos anyone make Ash axe handles? I need my Elwell re shafting, I would like a nice handmade Ash shaft for it. Does anyone do this type of thing?

I have just been to see a customer of mine who has been conned by a gang of dodgy tree surgeons. They knocked on the door and told her that her big Beech tree needed work doing, she told them she was getting her regular tree surgeon to do it and they said it was a danger to leave it as is and they could do it now, he shot up a ladder and cut the large limb off as he did it he told her to go and get £400!! Cash while they did the work. He cut the limb and it smashed her wall and gate post. They left a torn stub and said they would come back with a cherry picker to tdi the cut up?? That's because his ladder was leaning up on that bit?? They left all the waste and took £400 and left saying they would tidy up on their return. They have a green transit and gave her a business card with Ash tree surgeons or something like that. The phone does not get Answered when she calls. She has gone to the police and trading standards. She is an old lady who has been taken for a ride. Watch out folks there are some dodgy people around!!

If I was doing it I would still charge my basic day rate that I have to charge as kit needs paying for. I don't understand people doing cheap labour?? It just de values the industry. If your a tree surgeon who does fencing also then you still have overheads for the tree surgery to pay. If one guy is happy to do that job for £200 inc materials then fair play but it can't see how you can work for so little? Take off travel to collect materials, tools, insurance, tax, wage and profit and you ain't making much. I agree the original price seems way over the top but we all have different business models. Is she wasn't family how much would you be charging?? Its a £400 quid job to me.

I think for my situation tree quip is spot on, what has it got to do with the power company if I'm working for a private client? All I want is the line making safe, we arnt going to hit it while dismantling the tree. I did a job where we got network rail in to supervise as tree was next to railway but in customers garden and they Never asked for anything. I will question the power co about on what grounds they are saying this.
