  1. Whats the best gromit...rubber barrier...cable tie... etc that I can put on the lower krab between harness and ZZ= swivel ?
  2. Yes Thanks Short and sweet Ill try it tomoz
  3. Why am I struggling to use this set up...? Cant get the bloody things off the rope...Is there a sequence or what
  4. Should it have been re pollarded well sooner
  5. Got pics this time
  6. Veteran half dead oak in the way of a new shed. Planning requirement is to cut it, monolith it and move the cut "cylinder" to a nearby area and crane it into a hole and concrete it in. The moving and craning is down to builder. Today it was checked by an ecologist and then our ARB subbys did the coronet cuts/fracture pruning. Two large lower branches left on to weigh it over when felled and to cushion the fall by breaking. Guy up the tree was great (not me ) Got some nice close ups of his coronet cuts
  7. Could you explain more what you mean by this.....cheers
  8. thanks..any idea of price for whole thing
  9. Thanks all
  10. Hi I have some log weight charts based on green oak but not sure where I got them. I could do with some from a recognised source as I have to do a full method statement for some crane works and need to justify my conclusions regarding predicted weights etc for the lifts Does anybody know where I could reference some from etc Thanks
  11. I think I read that there is a new zig zag coming out this year which will be OK to use for SRT with a wrench Anybody know if and when this is coming out ?
  12. This is static rope available from Decathlon UK £44 approx
  13. "Whoao you f*****" Spoken with an English accent as it happened so probably in this country which makes it all the more worrying if it was a bona fide firm.... As has been said Hope he's OK
  14. Thanks all If I end up doing it after I've explained all that to the little old man whose tree it is, I will def put some pics up taken from same aspect.
  15. Thanks both. Don't worry I'll have a groundy but not someone with an experienced eye for sighting.
  16. Got my first reduction to do just after xmas. Only done removals, dead wooding, thinning small stuff and re pollarding to date but fully agree that no spikes out at the tips is much slower. Not worried if it takes me a long time as its a learning experience in so much as the climbing goes. What worries me is butchering it by not having someone with an eye on the ground. Not sure how you approach sections where there is no obvious pruning point. Its a birch and wont stand hacking. Its not TPO but I don't want to butcher it but do want to try it. Are there any pointers or is it just a case of do it and learn
  17. Skills shortage in the ARB field ..?
  18. Yes. It was one of the things I was wary of when I decided to try it. Oil goes down with the fuel as so top up every time. Decided to pay a bit more for the lighter bar and glad I did. Went for the full skip chain also. Overall its so much lighter than a 661 and I can always go smaller with the bar when appropriate
  19. In case anyone is considering it...36" bar on 461 with full skip chain working well
  20. Even chain sawing London plane is a b****** after its been on the deck a bit
  21. Does it matter how you attach the wrench to the pinto pulley
  22. One good thing ….They will have learnt a lesson and wont do it again
  23. I had this problem too when I tried the SRT ascent with a wrench. Put me right off Need to practice getting them off at low levels and persevere
  24. Brilliant work IMO How long did it take..how many trees in total..how many guys ..loads etc just wondering how many trannie loads of chip from a big pop in leaf Really good editing too
