  1. mine seem pretty tame by comparison used to regularly turn up having had no sleep whatsoever sometimes with a bottle still in hand usually worse for wear. we once got a load of sandwiches given to us from an event that was taking place next door unbeknown to me on of the ones they had plated up for me in my absence (spewing last nights dodgy kebab) had been filled with horse crap and reassembled. didn't learn my lesson from that a few weeks later had my coffee filled with Viagra and was sent out with a strimmer. young and naive aged 16 there was a worker there in her 40's and weighed about 40 stone aswell decided to try take away my non existent innocence the image of that still haunts me to this day. was regularly set upon with the pressure washer and hoses and disinfectant buckets. took me a long time to realize that if i layed off the drink and kept my mouth shut i was left alone
  2. actually lolling at that you have brightened up my crappy evening :) im actually happily married so the girls don't really bother me anymore one is enough trouble for me but a guy i subbed in once pulled the customers daughter needles to say we were never called back to that address he still thinks he is gods gift i still think it was a ploy on the customers behalf to source a discount
  3. Your wrong there m8 is me that gets the hot chick you climbers might spark the initial interest but whilst your swinging arround the tree like a monkey I explain that the reason you climb is to keep you away from the general population due to a hideous facial disfigurement or a severe personality disorder by the time you're down from the tree im in there and you're left with the sister with a weird growth in her face :-P
  4. The gardening has kinda led on to trees it felt like the natural progression so I now do everything for customers
  5. Not sure about money but I have a mix of jobs I don't currently climb but that will be changing soon I do gardens and forestry and couldn't pick one I like the variety a bit of arbtalk thrown in would mix it up nicely
  6. Assuming you mean stockton not stockpot im local but don't climb
  7. tree l c thank you have liked your page stompy i have liked your page
  8. so whilst we are at it who is going to like my facebook page i will do the same for yours aswel https://www.facebook.com/viking.garden.services?ref=tn_tnmn
  9. You know I've never thought of it like that most people I've seem to charge the same as me plus vat I.e if i can do a job for 450 they would be 450 plus vat I have been told twice now that not being vat registered has got me the job
  10. Seems to me aswel you are missing a massive reduction in price when quoting against newish businesses like me im not vat registered so if our overheads are the same and we want to make the same in the customers eyes I'm imidatly 20% cheaper this is a massive price difference for the customer and would probably be the difference between getting the job and not getting the job
  11. Unless you really know what you are doing and have done it for a while then going self employed isn't for you if you haven't got your tickets yet it would suggest you havnt got the experience. how are you going to price a job? How are you going to estimate time? What are you going to do when things go wrong? Best bet would be go to college get tickets get subcontractors insurance and gain the experience that way i was fortunate enough to have been working in horticulture for some time before going to college and my wife had a fairly well paid job so self employment was not too big a risk for me now I'm going into year three and it's starting to pay off None of this is a dig at you but I think you need a reality check
  12. hi all ive just been out with the saw and have came in with wet feet upon closer inspection i have split the seam on my wellies and left a hole about two inches long does anyone have a pair of size 9 or 10 boots/wellies that are serviceable kicking around that they would be willing to sell for a sensible price thanks mike
  13. Yay I won do I need to give my address to anyone?or week someone contact me
  14. This seems to be the one that is winning at the moment there's two good dealers near to me one of wich will probably get my money the main reason Itend to dismiss the likes of dolmar and makita is the lack of local dealership if this changes for me then these may become contenders Thanks to everyone for toy help it is appreciated by this gardener who seems to spend more time in the woods these days

  16. the 391 will manage a 20" in softwood but its slow and painfull 16" and it pulls like a train havnt had an 18 on it but i imagine it would pull it well altho i cant realy see the pint in spending money on a bar thats only going me 4" more cut when i need a second saw for the next time the sthil decides to spit its dummy out it drops bits off for fun
  17. ideally it needs to be new how odl is it and what sort of price are we looking at as i could buy it out of my own money instead of the businesses money if the price and condition are right
  18. im only really thinking of light milling ie the od fence post for the allotment or to save a nice looking peice from the firewood pile i take it then that manufactures are being optimistic with the recomended bar lengths as the 365 says it will take a 28" bar
  19. thanks think that this might sway things a little as i keep looking at the 365 it has only been the lack of xp at the end that makes me wory in going to be buying a farmer saw and wishing i had splashed on the pro saw
  20. not me lol have only just managed to get my hands on enough dough to buy a new saw should of added if anyone in the north east has any of these saws that i could have a go of it owuld help make up my mind i dont want to part with cash only to find ive bought a crap saw
