  1. As title says what's this insect landed on Pete/yaffles hand on Friday I've never seen one before Thanks Mike
  2. The 435 seemed a little under powerd for anything even cutting oversized ivy was painful with it turns out the carb wasnt sat right and was restricting fuel now it's fixed it seems ok I still like the 181 it is so light and fast on12 inch it will do most of what I need
  3. I love Staithes and Whitby is like time forgot tgem on a night. Feel free to message me if you do make the trip and I'll sort out some logs for you
  4. thanks for the advice i ended up getting a ms181 on a 12 inch bar ive tried it out today trimming some pear that was felled on sat (see facebook link in my sig if anyone is interested in its size) and buried bar length in it didn't phase it at all it seems to punch well over its weight. anything that it wont cope with will be dealt with either with the ms391 or the huskie 435
  5. thats a good point provideing my maths isnt too far out (i dont have enough fingers to work it out fully) the percentages are the same my point is tho that i have seen these saws going for more second hand than they can be picked up for new surely anyone on ebay would have a look on google just to see the new price of it or is that just the sensible side of the population? personly for £30 or £40 more i would rather have a saw with 12 months guarantee but for £100 less than new price i would take the risk
  6. For anyone that's interested I just paid £200 for a brand new 181 from the local dealership Im not the best at maths but by my reckoning £40 of that was vat making the price of the saw £160 I struggle to see why anyone would pay close to that for a second hand saw. My thinking may be different next year when I stick it on ebay
  7. There should be a few good guys selling firewood over that way the sister-in-law's partner has a load of family that all love in the village there all on coal but have had the odd pile of offcuts from me. There's a few arbs in nearby villages but may only sell in dumpy bags. It's q shame I'm not fishing over that way this week else I could of gave you some logs
  8. Hi all I have a vauxhall combo van and need a towbar fitting asap all the local stealerships are lookalike at nigh on 300 to supply and fit. Does this seem excessive to those on here? Has anyone done it themselves and if so how hard was it? I fitted the towbar to my current car with no bother but that was just a case of bolting off the crumple bar and bolting on the new one and plugging in the electrics? The instructions for the combo are vague at best and state that the rear cross member anyone want to tell me how bad I could mess up my van if i do it wrong Thanks Mike
  9. Only used it today got it as a stopgap second hand from the local dealership only it didn't stop the gap lol taking it back in the morning
  10. Mine must be a dud then it's slow hard to start when warm won't idle and will either cut out or run on and it loses power on full throttle if you give it all for more than a few seconds
  11. £10? Maby £15 if you deliver and fill it with fuel wouldn't know what it is worth to be fair
  12. Fair enough God loves a tryer and god knows im trying can't understand why anyone would pay almost as much second hand as it cost new
  13. ill give you 70 for it no interested in the powersharp bar so you could make a few quid more sticking that on ebay
  14. thanks i had looked but dismissed it straight away mainly because of weight 5.3 kg and partly on price i wasnt sure if somthing like a ms18 (4.3) would be up to the job or a ms201 (also4.3)
  15. thanks thats about what i thought £25ish was where i was at a guess when i was looking online for prices i could only find it for sawn boards at arround £20 per cubic foot does this seem right for green timber kiln dried the only price i could find was almost £100 more than that maybe i should buy a kiln lol
  16. as above what saw for the job i want lightweight but not pathetic in terms of power husky or sthill ideally as that's what the local dealers are or a mitox as theres a dealer not that much further away thanks mike
  17. So I know this is a bit of an open ended question but what value should a 12 inch piece that's 5foot long be i have a turner coming for some and I don't want to rob him but at the same time don't want to get shafted.
  18. Ive gone and set up a basic woodworking kit saw plane sander and a small selection of chisels I'm going to give this woodwork malarkey a shot and see what o can rescue from the firewood pile
