  1. Sell the manitou, buy a small compact tractor with some creature comforts and a small rough terrain forklift. Got myself an old Ausa C11, 1.2ton capacity. 900cc engine Vs using the 4000cc tractor loader, it's a no brainer with red at 93p a litre.
  2. 50 litres per boiler Kw is generally recommended or larger on a log boiler as you don't want to heat the whole tank You'd be surprised how quickly you can get a 1500 litre tank from 5c > 90c when the house is upto temperature.
  3. I do burn the absolute dregs, that being said I have a 1500 litre tank and run the boiler at maximum of around 85c. I found if I went above 90 it just wastes heat cycling up and down. Plus have experimented with and without a draft regulator, using one pretty much halved wood usage.
  4. Bin day my boy, they're all lined up like toy soldiers!.
  5. Jebus, you're house must be either roasting or even more uninsulated than my barn!. I might get thorough a wheelie bin every two days with a 25kw eco Angus, but 45m3 is serious amounts.
  6. I hope you meant 4.5 m3 as 45m3 is 38 IBC'S
  7. I wonder if the hi Vis is the exact same in all their videos ?. Are they atleast filtering the air with a Marlborough?.
  8. Don't give them ideas, they'll be using a mixture of BSP, jic and left handed thread adapters just to mess with your mind!
  9. It wouldn't surprise me, but try at the spool block end 😉. Granted if he's already replaced the drive motor it's unlikely to be the pipes, even 30year old ones delaminate on the outside before the inside as it's relatively sealed from the outside elements as it's low oxygen. Valve block or a failing pump would be my guess, plus check your filters for any swarf. Are you running standard hydraulic oil and not some veg based stuff ?.
  10. I'd be tempted to swap hoses from left track to right and see if the problem follows.
  11. NFU, granted you'll probably need tractor insurance and farm insurance. Whilst I've not checked my policy specifically for hedge cutting public liability, as I pay a guy for doing the road side stuff I would assume it's included as I don't do any contracting. Tractor around 350 & farm around 400.
  12. It's probably CE marked but also CE British Standard. A lot of EU CE rules are of a UK origin, take most electric regulations as an example, it was easier for everyone to just use or very lightly modify them.
  13. It's a sure fire way to find out who's a friend and those that are just aquantances.
  14. Or just like any land rover, marking it's territory.
  15. What's the engine?. Start simple, air filter then fuel filter and if the pipe to the injector pump is getting fuel. Without knowing the type of engine, does it have a solenoid pump for the fuel as without that ticking away it won't start ?.
  16. Just because you aren't getting the answer you want doesn't make it what happens in the real world. Writing a thesis for every reply doesn't help either, most countryside roads are cut back level to the edge of the path or tarmac, 15ft would be 7ft into my field.
  17. Just wondering if the rubber handles are bolted in place, if you have to pull down both handles to operate. Could you fashion a curved bar/tube between the two, I was going to say chin bar with maybe a handle in the centre ?.
  18. I'm sorry Phil, but you're sounding like some eco zealot banging on about trees, co2, electric cars and then power stations. The council clearance figures are about standard for A type roads, to ensure access by HGVs without tree strikes. New roads have new rules, old roads are not retrospective unless arterial routes. Usual rules apply to cut back to the edge of the highway/pavement for everything else.
  19. Yeap, I tend to be loyal to my local palletline guy as a result, works out around £80 nationwide inc Vat upto say half a ton. But I've dealt with FedEx/TNT for a decade before they merged and for a while after. Some pricing with them was insanely cheap upto about 2kg, providing you could get it into one of the standard bag sizes, around £8-12. But like everything would or could you rely on Evri or the many low cost options and just end up using royal mail, if it's going to fail atleast I know they've not gone skint.
  20. The fuel surcharge thing varies depending on the fuel price, my pallet transport guy tends to vary month to month depending on the rates, last week it was 12%. Which you can understand on an hgv, at say 15 to the gallon. But with FedEx/TNT it's a bit more cheeky as it's white van man territory, delivering hundreds of parcels per day.
  21. Think the old boy deserves extra points for wearing a flat cap in that weather!.
  22. You know what I mean tho, it's an improvement not something that should unbrick something. iPhones and such IOT need to talk to the mother ship 😋
  23. Are you advocating a mass treepocalypse in the name of road safety ?. The rules generally apply to anything other than country roads, as you could interpret an old hedge as trees as most old roads wouldn't meet those width standards. You could even argue Roman/Napoleon esk tree lined roads would be illegal.
  24. Plus why would a firmware be needed, other than to enable it to work with the scanner, even then they then to work with a number of older revisions. Whilst updates might improve the fuel economy etc, it should be a running engine when it leaves the factory. You're car doesn't just stop working because ford use a new firmware. As a guy who dealt with PLCs for a long while, I kept copies of everything for that singular reason.
  25. Looking at the angles of the lever, try removing the right handle and putting a block under the cross bar so it acts as if engaged. It seems to need the mechanism to operate the log lifting thing tho, so butchering the hydraulics might lose that function.
