  1. Can't you curve a section of drain pipe instead of the adjustable nozzle ?.
  2. Can we make it a punishment for JSO protestors, they have to walk with a red flag and in the other hand ring a bell and shout make way for my horseless carriage?.
  3. That might actually speed up traffic flow in some places!.
  4. That's very true, I did keep it short to highlight the stupidity of the idea of 20mph. Having lived in Newport for a few years I would hazard most of Wales alleged pollution is just from the M4 bottleneck. It was bad enough almost 20 years ago before they rebuilt the universities and made students travel even further.
  5. It's also the same Welsh government that continues to refuse to solve the M4 bottleneck, owns a failing airport that forces people to drive to Bristol. And had their hand in the top of the valley race track, so how is any of that good for the children?.
  6. Unpolluted is the best description, most canals have them growing in the clay and silt. That being said they are also overrun with signal crayfish, so presumably it's got plenty of food for them to survive.
  7. Just thinking about your why they didn't put the hex head screws on the opposite site. Direction of rotation keeps them from unwinding out. You could always swap them out for a higher strength version, bit to be honest they'll still wear.
  8. Not my area of expertise in afraid, but would assume you'll need an overall plan of what you're wanting to achieve before submitting one.
  9. What about felling consent ?.
  10. Wouldn't that make the Avant more if a fair weather setup?. Not saying I'm a complete soppy northerner, but I don't think there would be many takers on a cold and rainy day. Hedge cutting does take a fair amount of concentration to keep going straight and getting a decent finished cut.
  11. What's the year, if it's old the drive shaft can wear causing it to turn elliptically on the clutch cup/bearing. If you remove the clutch cup and chain does it start easily?.
  12. Tractor would be the best option, larger tyres so much lower ground pressure and compaction. Not saying your idea won't work, but a decent 100-150hp 4 cylinder tractor cab with creature comforts and they can work almost regardless of the weather. Regarding reduction, might be best renting a guy with a saw hedge cutter and forestry flail in situ.
  13. I've been paying £40 an hour cash for the last few years, but I've always tidied up the road afterwards. The main factor is red or white fuel, say 10-15 litres an hour + £40. I don't think I'd question £50-60 an hour.
  14. If you're intent is to start cheap, Aldi and Lidl are cheerful and you can atleast take it back within 2 years. I'd even prefer a Screwfix or Toolstation special to a unobtainable brand with zero backup. Maybe post a budget and everyone can post recommendations, but like most things buy once cry once.
  15. Don't you need an operator license for 7.5ton and a registered base even if it's personal usage ?. I know you've the ticket, but aren't councils a bit arsey about something like that parked on your driveway?.
  16. I'd check to see how much insurance would be aswell beforehand as it might be commercial policies only, that and road tax. Even something like a pickup tends to be commercial only, small van might be a better option or a twin axle 750kg trailer ?.
  17. Erm, if it's going into a corner of a room the 400mm might be to the back. So 100mm on either side, obviously depends on the style and shape. wood+stove+clearances+uk+non+combustible+ - Google Search WWW.GOOGLE.COM
  18. Why am I imagining a weirdo scenario tedding logs out across my yard ?
  19. Is it a 14644 key ?. I ask as I fitted a new ignition switch to a hatz control box the other year and it was a cheap aftermarket, utter garbage that hates water unlike the original.
  20. Definitely see if there's any farm tip sites and have a chat with them, they'll probably know someone or be atleast willing to find a bit of space for a shipping container.
  21. It is all loose but I fill to the top as it naturally shrinks and settles down, without a lid I would guess 20-25% providing it gets airflow. I have used tarpaulins in the past, providing they overhang down the sides on the edge of the stacks they will dry perfectly well. It just isn't easy to acces the stack without it becoming a hazardous sail/parachute.
  22. All of mine is stored outside in IBC cages on hardstanding, all have a wooden lid with a decent overhang on top of each double stack. Average tends to be less than 18% even though the middle of winter.
  23. You're probably right if it predates both of us combined!. Time for an upgrade, they aren't that expensive new. I loved my UK made KIDD topper before I swapped it for a flail.
  24. It's probably a Comer gearbox, best having a look for a small metal plate with details of it's ratios. Just as an example 1:1.47 ratio Comer Type Grass Topper Main Gearbox Clockwise Direction Fleming Abbey Conor WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for Comer Type Grass Topper Main Gearbox...
  25. The real question is what do you use ?. Maybe see if you can put up a vote for which fuel people use, I suspect 90% are just on petrol station mix. YMMV, but you don't need a PhD level analysis for choosing your poison.
