Fuel filter and/or air filter need cleaning ? Leak in fuel pipe ?

Hi Martin, it sounds like your chainsaw trousers did a good job there ! One idea to help reduce the risk with the hung up trees is to buy a hand winch e.g. a Tirfor so that you are not near the hung up tree when it comes down. The medium sized Tirfor is a useful size since not too heavy to move around and you can always double the pull with a pulley if needs be.

1999 Stihl 026, still running well and 172 psi compression. I am treating it to HP Ultra 2 stroke oil these days to help it last a few more years (I switched from the original Stihl red 2 stroke oil to HP Super when that became available). I think that good quality oils do make a difference.

Logosol do a chainsaw mill which supports the log at waist height. This wouldn't work for very large diameter logs, but could be used for smaller diameter logs. Further details here http://www.logosol.co.uk/sawmills/m8/

Hello Countryboy, I am burning horse chestnut at the moment. It is fully seasoned and fairly light. It burns ok, heavier than seasoned willow not as good as the heavier woods but good enough. I am keeping my better logs for when it gets colder

Thumbs up from me as well.. Great to deal with and some nice products, the Logrite stuff is top quality and beautifully engineered (e.g. hookaroon, cant hook), yes not the cheapest, but a joy to use and should last for years and years -

I have been very impressed having used an Oxdale RT400 video here A key thing to watch out for is how fast the ram moves since that has a big effect on productivity and this machine has a fast ram. Also the non auto return i.e. you control the up as well as down speeds things up with variable length rings. I split approx 1 cubic metre an hour with this machine, used approx 10 litres of petrol in a day. This is somewhat over the 1,400 budget unless bought 2nd hand, but if nothing else, a good benchmark when looking at ram speed. It has a Honda 6.5hp engine so that should last a long time. This machine is a lot faster than any of the electric log splitters which I have used.

Looks good, very similar to mine, just 10 bar less and slightly lower flow rate, I reckon you would be pleased with that one. The long wind up high pressure hose saves a lot of messing about since you don't have to keep moving the pressure washer to do bigger areas/go round a car etc. I wouldn't be worried about too much pressure, just be careful and leave a bigger gap between the nozzle/car etc and the gap effectively reduces the ferocity of the water jet.
