  1. Are these proper "stag beetles"? or the much more common "lesser stag beetle"? As most customers I've dealt with wouldn't know the difference http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  2. Annoyingly Steph no! Their protected as far as it's an offence to intentionally kill or injure one of them but the weird uk law doesn't make it an offence to handle or even collect specimens to keep as a pets! As long as the snake is housed outside it's perfectly legal but as soon as it's residence is inside you need a dwa licence for it???? Work that one out! http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  3. Technically there more venomous than most of the crotalus family rattlesnakes etc but they have much less venom to actually deliver so the bite is relatively pathetic in comparison, beautiful snakes though they just need to be left alone http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  4. Can anyone recommend a good place to get some handles from? I need 3x 36" with a 4 1/2" socket for some 7lb felling heads, all the handles I've seen so far have been pretty poor quality and can't see them lasting more than 5 mins, just looking for something a bit more substantial in quality. 5. Caused £450 to my collie pup with an axe while out cutting no insurance you do tend to be able to find the funds when needed plus any decent vets not gonna expect full payment there and then http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  6. 2nd is unfinished there's roots and some corvids going in there somewhere http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  7. Then that's my job for tomorrow! It's such a shame she's been ignored, I understand finances etc but money shouldn't dictate the survival of a genuine gem like this, generally she's in good health but if few little things are left as they are it will surely lead to something more serious I feel. http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  8. You seem pretty confident? http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  9. This is the little lady, currently laced together with a ridiculously tight cable brace and has a pretty huge honey bee nest in residence too http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  10. Is there any organisation or financial aid in place to help with the conservation of veteran trees? The tree is on public land and the LA has a limited budget and can't stretch to extra maintenance for this very old oak, at present the budget just about covers the priority works and nothing else, unfortunately she's had very little work in the last 10 years and the public have taken to parking underneath her so some sort of bollards/fence needs erecting, and then there's the grounds maintenance contractors who are desperately trying to fell her with a strimmer! 11. It's ridiculous! It's a much finer head than my elwell 7's so to maintain the weight it's bigger dimensionally I'll get a comparison shot tomorrow should clean up a treat too! http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  12. It's stamped "Cornelius whitehouse and sons- Cannock" "7lb" "royal oak axes" and "wide pattern blade" apart from a little rust she's virtually new http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  13. Jumped in to a compactor this morning after the chap in front of me launched this not so little gem in to it! She's a 7lb Cannock Royal oak and has never been struck and doesn't look like she's ever been sharpened either...... Winner! Forest Floor Reptiles Online
  14. Fill a pint jug up with flour I assume? It's a volume not weight thing http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  15. equal ˈiːkw(ə)l/ adjective 1. being the same in quantity, size, degree, or value. "add equal amounts of water and flour" synonyms:identical, uniform http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  16. It's a Purple emperor and looks like a female one ..... white admirals don't have eye spots on their fore wings http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  17. Oddly the smell of a rotten badger I found...... 24 years later and I can still taste it in the back of my mouth http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  18. I always like a Groundie that wants to know why? And shows some interest in what he's actually doing! So don't be afraid to ask questions, look after the gear you haven't paid for it but somebody else did..... Can't stand people abusing kit with the "it's not mine" attitude, totally unacceptable! And get into the habit of pristine house keeping, so keep the work area clean, keep the climbers rope clear and free, and keep the chipping area tidy. It's all common sense stuff really like doing things without being asked filling saws up etc it's only simple thing but it goes a long way http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  19. In fairness to him it was one of those 5-6" little round ones and he'd put the stone fork tine through it while clearing up....... Still wasn't very funny though http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  20. My old groundie's fed the wolf a multitude of items, from the usual rakes, brooms, shovels, too a 460 bar and chain, a pair of felcos (including strop and krab), numerous bits of re-bar, hanging basket brackets, cast iron inspection covers, jumpers, but the only thing that really upset her was one of those 360 degree rotating scaffold brackets....stopped her dead! smashed the knives to bits and destroyed 3 fins. http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  21. Nope pins in still, I assume he's just cooked it being the hero that he is lol http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  22. There's a few pretty angry grooves in the cylinder that you can't see in the pic the saws that new he hadn't even sharpened the original chain I'll have a look for a new piston and see how it goes http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  23. I got asked by a mate to give his saw a quick service as it wouldn't start...... Not quite the £10 service he was hoping for. Forest Floor Reptiles Online
  24. Yep and there really easy! It's all about the location and soil condition with these guys, gonna need to be in either full shade or at least partial shade, the soil needs to be really rich and rammed with as much organic matter as possible to retain moisture, when it comes to planting soak the trunk for a 10 mins or so prior to planting, and you need to plant them as shallow as possible without them being unstable http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
  25. Roundup or tordon both will kick it in to touch http://www.forestflooronline.co.uk/
