  1. I didn't feel comfortable moving around the tree with hitch climber setup.it always feels like its gona get jammed or slip so thanks to my mate getting in me head to invest in zigzag now I love me ZZ:thumbup:

  4. im not %100 on this but i think it was about daily check of climbing kit, whether it should be or must be checked according to Industry guidelines on a daily basis or weekly .cheers paul

  11. I agree Mr.Squirrel. Everyone has their own choice of completing work but decision is usually effected by other factors such as time,cost etc..My question was that even though I have option to use MEWP I prefer to climb in most cases but ive been put pressure by H&S to use MEWP. Btw I been using mewp for 2-3 years and feel completely comfortable with it. Our H&S is convinced that climbing is very very dangerous

Our H&S officer recently been trying his best to minimise tree climbing if not scrap it.he knows himself its impossible to do that because of cost,time etc...he wants me to use MEWP where ever we can but even though I don't mind using MEWP for some jobs I prefer climbing because I feel like im in control of the situation rather a machine.i feel like ive been pushed into using something im not entirely happy so what you guys think about what I should do and how I should explain it and something else I d like to know. I cant find much info about it. does anyone know updated accident and fatality rates of MEWP and climbing?

  14. ohh well its all good to know stuff for future reference:)but for now poplars going to be fire wood but we have some chestnuts coming down soon so i might pop them up to see anyone s interested.cheers for all replys

Hi guys.im not a milling person but ive took this large grey poplar down today and it seems like its too good to be fire wood:confused1:is it any good for anyone.i have no idea what its worth so Pm me as soon as if interested to buy it to mill or it will be chopped up tommorow.its about 3 ft diameter and about 30 ft long.cheers .
  19. slings are your answer mate like Tom D says their much easier ,quicker and safer option to knots.
  20. sorry to hear that mate i know how frustrating it can be.i might connect 240v to toolbox in shed to watch them doing n irish dance in there if they get in.
