  1. forestry commission have 20-30% everyone else is sub 25% why are you even bothering to post your not interested in what people think, when you look around at the other industry bodies they are pretty much in consensus at sub 25% your just trolling people.
  2. do your own research the information is out there and what you are doing is misinforming the public and creating unnecessary complications wood at 30% is not seasoned and has never been considered seasoned. like I said in my last post tell them your wood is 30% and kiln dried which it is bu you know fine most people wont buy it.
  3. if it's 30% it's not seasoned has to be under 25% but both are kiln dried. this is the kind of bad marketing that is extremely annoying and gets emails sent to trading standards
  4. I didn't like moving it the 1/4 mile from one end of the farm to the other.
  5. how is willow once dried? I brought in about 15 ton last week now wondering whether to risk putting any in my bags or give it away.
  6. that's how I started, priced the same as everyone else for first 3 weeks then I decided they were working for nothing went 30% higher and my sales went up.
  7. the hand crank hoists that bolt to the chassis are not that expensive I think and also looks better if you set the bag down tidy at the customer rather then slide it out of a tipper.
  8. I deliver mallaig peterhead wick and I used to do Ayr £94 a bag for 90x90 bags take 8 I'll deliver for free.
  9. you shouldn't be able to make a living off the payments though, I just went back over that guys website and his £70 a cube including delivery is cheaper than I can ship a pallet to London cheapest quote I think I got was £80+vat fair enough start sending a few the price comes down a bit but essentially this guy is giving his wood away for free.
  10. you do also get a lot of smnartarses posting comments on your adverts about how your prices are too high in general and they can do a bigger load 50% cheaper yet they can't afford to pay £5 to advertise themselves.
  11. comes back to the discussion we had on here a year or 2 ago where kiln dried is an inferior product due to some of the volatiles being cooked off in the kiln. Can't blame them for exploiting loopholes I might be tempted myself had I joined the bandwagon speaking to some guys with kilns they don't actually have to sell any logs to make a good living with what the RHI is paying them, so £70 is a joke but it's essentially a bonus to them and why I don't get any distance orders anymore, at £120 a cube ex yard whos going to buy my superior quality air dried at almost double the price and I'm not prepared to fight a downward spiral into bankruptcy. Air dried guys just need to get the word out about having a superior product. there is the other issue with tree surgeons selling bags at £30 £40 £50 and saying anything more is ripping people off, when they are double dipping having charged to dispose of waste and then selling it as firewood this just confuses people and does the industry no good either.
  12. we have the 30 ton posch 2.4m but don't like the timber for feeding through the processor so we now just cut it to 1m lengths and split it into billets and cut on the sawbench.
  13. I get quite a few likes and shares but no way of telling if they ever turn into actual sales.
  14. £35 to £55 + vat for hardwood delivered and £35+ vat + haulage on softwood but we don't have much demand for that. keeping our prices the same this year again £94 for a 90x90 £120 97x97x110 no clue as to what a dumpy is as some of you use 50x50 60x60 90x90 unless you give a size it's meaningless to me at least.
  15. like everyone else has already said quality and put your price up better to sell half as much at twice the price. I'm getting 30% more than you for same size bag. you get the same old comments people wont pay that round here but if your logs are the right quality yes they will.
  16. I can get 5.8 cube in a load well 8 90x90 so could also do.
  17. I'd say your prices are too low, we get £100 for a bakers cube bag softwood and £120 for hardwood we don't have much demand for softwood they usually say our hardwood is so dry it doesn't need the softwood to make it burn.

    Kindling

nice to see someone put their prices out there for a change. I just use some small logs and blowtorch to get mine going.
  19. from what I have been told 6" is the more popular because you can loose fill bags on less timber then longer lengths, so far have avoided doing kindling so no actual experience if thats true or not.
  20. anyone else gone through the Survey for upcoming changes to BSL and implementing charges to be registered. £95 a year + 11 or 12p a ton I think was one price they are considering. as in 2 years I have had 1 order and 1 enquiry for BSL logs it's not worth paying a penny imo.
  21. wouldn't dream of going out on £220 a day, honestly can't get my head round some of the prices
  22. there are a lot of people though who sell ready to burn logs cheaper than cord cost and haven't figured out they could make more money just selling the cord without the bother of processing and delivering and there seems to be more and more doing the 4m3 £200 brigade not sustainable on their end and putting massive pressure on people selling at realistic prices.
  23. why post your rate then get stroppy when people give an opinion on it
  24. Haven't even started on mine think last year did around 7k nets which is more than the previous 9 years combined and just me filling them I was glad when summer arrived.
  25. £400 a day too cheap and last labourer I had was on £15 an hour and quit wasn't enough money.
